Looks good, plays great, interesting story. Probably one of the best arcade space shooters. The combat is fluid and is a blast to play... But... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, the protagonist is annoying as hell. Not because she's a woman, not at all... But the dialogue and the whole whispering to herself a la Senua's Sacrifice or David Lynch's Dune.... It's terrible.

Hell, just... turn off the dialogue volume... And enjoy this jem!

This is more of a spiritual successor of Tenchu than it is of the original Aragami. Don't expect anything similar to the original. That being said, it's a great game in and of itself. Though the two strange decisions to not allow key remaps or not having pause when playing on your own is very strange.

I'm still having a lot of fun, which the most important metric I feel, and for the price it's probably one of the best shadow/stealth/assassin games I've played. Also, if anyone is wondering the graphics are fine, but seem not all that demanding that you can actually play it on a pretty mediocre comp.

This game caught me just like Factorio did... I'm trapped. And it's amazing. I will be infinitely disappointed if this game gets abandoned like so many other ErAc games. I've wasted money here and there and didn't care all that much, but this is the first time where I'll actually be unhappy. This is fantastic. I love factorio, and i love satisfactory. And I can't wait to add this to my collection of black holes.

Automation is life.

Besides the golems that represent your crew in the game, it's a fantastic hidden gem that deserves MUCH more attention that the sparse 100 reviews this game has.

POST V1 EDIT: This is one of my favorite games, period.

EDIT: 0.10.0 review; This was and continues to be one of my favorite games of all time. The soundtrack slaps, the gameplay is crisp and rewarding, and the recent changes to the game have made it even more inviting to all sorts of play-styles. When this game is done, it'll be one of the best underrated games of all time, no question.

I don't review things often, but I feel like this is necessary to say that this is some of the most fun I've had in a long time. Period. And it's only at version 0.1.2.

This kills me, because I believe that the Rebel Galaxy series and universe is one of my favorites and definitely the best space western since firefly and starcraft... There are a lot of things that this game does right, and does well, especially the atmosphere. I'll let you read those details in the other reviews, because they pretty much got them...

But lets just say that every time I opened this game to start playin', I almost immediately longed for the original... And frankly, I would turn off this game and go back to the OG RG.

Shame, because the atmosphere, and characters are great!

I REALLY wanted to like this game. Especially because I love the idea... That being said, I cannot recommend this to anyone unless you are simply going to play sandbox mode, or something, or whatever mode that doesn't force you to do something in a time limit... Well, since the dev took it off steam, I guess that won't be possible anyway.

Which leads me to one of my three reasons to not recommend this game;

The social/political commentary is so.... so unnecessary. It isn't told in an intelligent way, or as an interesting metaphor or... anything creative. It's just, through dialogue blocks in between missions. And good gosh do they make you cringe. I thought it was interesting at first, seemed like all the scientists had different personalities and beliefs... But after a few missions, they really didn't.

The gameplay itself, it... It's both fun and so hard to see a logical pattern on how to control your monster... A lot of the time you just really need to hope it does what you want it to. On one hand it's great and lots of fun to see stuff just... happen, but when you have an objective, it's very difficult to not get frustrated.

Lastly, I don't know what it is about the music, but the frustration from point 2 is somehow enhanced by the music. And I don't know why. It's just me, I think...

As for the dev removing it from Steam, that's their decision, irrelevant as to why. Kinda whiny imo, but what can ya do.

Serious review at the bottom.

the mindkill is something you can train against. to be ready. be familiar with your firearm. firearm discipline will prepare you to deal with the mindkill.

EDIT: The turret/drone 'beep' has become the equivalent of a vietnam flashback trigger for me

EDIT 2: I finally got woke and got to rank 3. I HAVE A DESERT EAGLE NOW?! RIP THE THREAT

I loved the first Receiver, it was so fun and intriguing, but I never beat it lol. This game, R2, is frankly, just as fun and 100x more polished than the first. It looks great, has nice and fun new mechanics, it feels better, and an all around good product for the price, in my opinion. Yes, I will agree with everyone else on here that the "lose your rank" when you quit/die is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥, but it's not enough for me to not recommend this game. You definitely need to have patience and time here to get anywhere, especially the further in the game you get. Hopefully they can fix that up a bit.

This is going to be strange, but I'd really like to focus on the lore and story of this title for a moment. It's something I struggled with in the past and almost succumbed to the Mindkill. Thankfully, I have practiced Mindtech over and over again until I was awakened from the Dreaming, having my own Threat Recovery. (I know this is a bunch of gibberish to some, but I'll elaborate)

The first thing I saw in the game (the initial message) kind of solidified my thoughts on the lore, I don't know if this was the direct intention of Wolfire, but I perceive this entire game as a struggle of depression and suicide. I frankly, love this depiction of it. Most artists make depression seem so bleak and dark, where I found that R2 portrayed it as a struggle, yes, but focused on what you can do about it. I really do feel the parallels of what I've went through years ago, and the game itself. It also helped that I'm an avid gun fan, and gun discipline helped me straighten out my mind.

The game is very difficult, and so is depression. The dreaming is the battle for your awakening, of self worth, the reality that you should not succumb to the Threat (the media that looks down on you, the people who betray you, the thoughts that put you down). But with focus, help from other people, they can leave you ammunition to fight the killdrones, the bad thoughts that convince you that you are not worth it, the threat tapes that simply end you.

sorry for the edgy review, but I really liked diving into this game mentally. It's a good game all on its own too, difficult and time consuming, but very good otherwise.

EDIT: Yeah, this game is still incredible. One of my favorites, and my favorite rhythm game since guitar hero 3 on the ps2.

Though, the community for custom tracks on spinshare is almost exclusively toxic. I tried to chart a song and only one person helped me, everyone else ragged on it. Not even any constructive criticism.

This is the most fun i've had in a rhythm game since guitar hero in '05. and this was even better than that.

rip dj hero, this is what it should have been lol
