This game stopped doing anything since 2021. Pass on this game. This game is nothing like it used to be. The maps are way too large, boring and slow progression. Dead game.

When you start up the game, you are greeted with a soothing narrator who will explain the story elegantly.

You start off with a family in the woods defending corruption from spreading and fighting off nasty things the corruption have spawned.

You start the adventure with John, he is the sword and shield type. After playing along you soon unlock Linda the ranged class with her bow.

I soon realized Linda will get you through the game much faster than the others. Once I unlocked Kevin the rogue/assin type and then soon after Mark the monk fist fighter, I realized that some mobs like the bats and spitting spiders were way too annoying for Mark and Kevin. I found that John was able to progress further as melee class because of his shield and high health, also his swings arc nicely to cleave multiples much better then the brothers.

I have not unlocked Lucy the fire mage and Joey the Brawler with his big hammer.

Right off the bat I got this Diablo 2 vibe playing. I mean john looks like the warrior in D1. I couldn't help to notice the skeletons died in a similar fashion with their bones collapsing and pile of gold shinning on the floor. But then once you get pass the first levels it soon felt more like D3 now. As in the mobs started to get more annoying. Some mobs are high threat but it makes it very hard to single them out sometimes because trying to close the gap you ended up pulling more mobs.
I felt I was playing the game in a very cheese way by peaking the corners and agro melee mobs then poke and prod the ranged classes next.
But not always easy to do so when the dungeon it self is very confined. The map is good length and lots of clay pots to smash, but the map felt claustrophobic in the sense it was hard to move around the map carefully while clearing mobs. The game gives all characters a dodge mechanic, which I felt I only needed in emergencies and it has limited uses but refills quickly. Occasionally my rolls were getting hung up on the decore of the dungeon and can get you killed sometimes. I just want more open freedom if a mechanic like this is in the game.

I think the bats need to do less damage and have a longer delay before that charge, it just hard to read when you trying to look out for so many things. The spiders that lay babies and spit, the spit need reduce damage and would be better to like let the player know she is spitting by maybe letting the bulb on her back glow green then it shoots out. More visual indicators to let the player know, ok this thing is shooting now... dodge! So when your fighting a pack it would be nice to ignore the shooters in the back if there was a easier way to know something is coming. But right now I feel like because I am new to the game, I am rushing to these mobs to hurry and burn them down, but I get surrounded easily due to the game has such a high amount of mobs. I do like killing a lot of mobs but the claustrophobic of the levels makes this a little overwhelming at times.

It's a decent game with nice combat. But claustrophobic levels mixed with high mob count can get overwhelming for some characters. Can't wait for online coop, that should make this game well worth it. But for now get it while the discount is here.

EDIT~
After playing more today, I noticed my beloved Linda was getting corruption sickness, so now her max hp is reduced. I noticed the more I played the more corruption she would get. There is no timer that I can see and it looks like the cure is some stone I need to get to cure her. I am not sure why this mechanic exist but it kind of sucks. My best character is now gimped and why? so I have to play the other characters? that's lame.

Edit2~ As I am playing more I notice the more I play the other classes my Linda corruption is going down. But now my John has 12% corruption which lowers their max HP. So the game is forcing me to play the other classes I don't want to play or suck at playing. The difficulty for melee characters is out of whack. Too many mobs that I feel I need to cheese my way through the level by waiting for my aoe running around and aoe again. The only way to really progress is to grind the same cave over and over to afford upgrades back at home that effect all characters equally. But it takes so much gold and now I am feeling the grind and repetitive nature of the game. The other 2 caves are really hard without a range class.
Some rooms feel like death rooms. As in you will enter a room thinking of reward, but you will stumble across a large group of really deadly mobs in a small room that you can not leave until they are dead. I just wish they would not do this. Linda dies in these rooms so easily but the melee classes seem to do ok. But you walk out of this room with a chunk of hp missing for sure.

With all the large amount of mobs, the difficulty with melee characters, dealing with corruption, the grind for gold, then the levels are just crazy. Too many spike traps, too many gravity totems, too many eploding flowers. Just upping the notch on maneuvering through the level is a pain. I kind of over the game now because of this corruption thing, and I never feel much stronger every time I went back to the house. I upgraded at least one thing when I came back each time. But it felt like the next time I went out it wasn't enough. I still recommend but at a discount. It still needs to be balanced with numbers at least.

I got the game at the discount price of 15$, which I feel is the right price for a game like this. I don't understand the reason for DLC. This should be free content. Paying for one level and all your friends need to buy that level too for you all to play. It seems a bit greedy here.

The game play is good. Nothing special from OC1, to me it's the same game just now with new levels.

Lots of levels in the campaign, but you only get about 10 in multiplayer.

Multiplayer is cool, you did not get that in OC1 so that is a huge plus!

Multiplayer pick up groups is ok, but it is just chaos. People running around just doing what ever, it can get crazy if people don't have roles set for each person at the start. It would be nice to lock in a "role" or job for someone in the lobby before starting the game. Sometimes people leave, or they just go afk, which blows.
This game is best played with the friends on mics with a plan in mind. It just more satisfying to play when you control only your character and everyone else is doing there thing to complete the level.

In the single player mode you control 2 chefs at one time. I wish there were a single chef mode with a smaller map. The game can get stressful at times and that raises my anxiety.

Good game here, but little greedy on DLC, multiplayer is a plus, but recommend with real friends on mics. Single player can get stressful and cause anxiety. But I still recommend this game. It is good. Just personally my anxiety goes way up when I play this.

This game is so dope. You can spend hours just crafting all kinds of prisons. You can do low risk inmates and have a more open prison. Or go Max with hard criminals and lock it down with sniper towers, armed guards, and K-9 drug sniffers. This game is your calling if you ever wanted to be the warden of your very own prison.

It's like sim city for prisons. But unlike sim city you can make HUGE prisons holding so many. Sometimes I like to spice things up and just cause a riot just to see how good my guards are. But if things get out of hand there's a cool swat team button to come wipe the turds up.

Man this game is great, know what is great? Making my prison make money, yes you can make your works grind out a profit for you. I made an assembly line of products my prisoners were making on a daily basis. I was rich as shiz. But comes at a cost when my inmates try sneaking a power drill up there whoo haa!

So much fun is to be made here. Go now get this game, you will get laughs and satisfaction, not to mention hours of replay value. I played so much of this game, my nuts got stuck to my chair.

I am not recommending this game not because it is a bad game. It's a wonderful game with great visuals and sound. The game has so many mechanics that it is hard to play casual, or just sit and build and enjoy your park.

I played Planet Coaster and thought this game would be more casual and less fiddly.

I noticed when you start the tutorial that the game is helping you understand how the game works. It has a great tutorial because I do understand the game and how it works.

I will list some game mechanics and I will explain the mechanic best of my ability. Some of these mechanics are so complex in nature that they take away from the game play.

Just building the walls of the first animal you want to place in your zoo. You have to know everything about the animal. You have to know if it can jump? can it climb? is it a Rhino? or a chimp?. These things come into factor when making the perimeter around the animal. The tutorial explains how you can make the top of the walls climb proof so chimps and other apes can't get over. Just in the wall editor is slow and clunky. There are a million options for walls to height, length, glass, wood, chain, even has a structure rating for the strength of the wall, one way and 2 way glass walls. The controls for the walls are so clunky, it's just sliders from a pop out window, with very little mouse and keyboard for short cuts to make these walls. But once you have it set it's good to go.
Also have to see how large the perimeter has to be for the animal there is a specific min specs of how large it needs to be for the animal to be happy.

Then there is terrain, which makes sense, you can't put a snow leopard in a sandy cage and expect it to be ok. You actually need to regulate the heat and cold of the animal by placing heaters/chillers. You also need to place a even amount of soil/grass/rock to favor the animals natural habitat. You also have to put "sometimes" hard shelters like a dog house in the cage, some animals like camels dont need shelter, but turtles do. Plant requirement is based on the animal. You actually need to put plants from the same continent and environment. The game has a filter so you can filter only plants from Asia, and pick Tropical or Grassland. The filter works with what toys your animal can use. But the game does not automatically filter out things when your in a habitat. I wish if I was in a pen with elephants, it should only show me toys and food and shelters elephants like. But I have to click the fliter, select Asia, select grassland, select elephant to filters things exactly.

If your pet breeds, the pen will over flow. Animals have social needs, some animals only want 2 adults at one time. If you have more then the social needs the animals fight. But you can sell the animals or release them into the wild. But releasing a animal who has a low fertile percent will just die in the wild and not repopulate the wild. Some animals you can't release into the wild due to that you purchased it with cash. Your animals will also get stressed if they live in a fish bowl, and want more privacy, so they either will run in the back of a hard shelter and now your guest cant see them. But they have 1 way mirrors which makes it so guest can see the animal but the animal can't see the guests. But it's glass and glass breaks.

Now you got the staff that works in the park. There are so many staff buildings.
You got the quarantine building that puts sick animals from spreading there diseases to other animals.
Staff rooms for staff to take breaks
Surgery for vets to do surgery
Holding room just to store animals until they are ready to be sold/shipped/released (not sick)
Research center so your vets can cure diseases and upgraded habitats by adding more things to habitats to increase happiness.
Workshop is same as research center but for mechanics, so you can add new things like water treatment and solar panels.
Keeper huts where keepers prepare the food for the animals.

Not even including Solar panels, Transformers, generators, water treatment, toilets and other concession stands

You need to be curing diseases, fixing walls, making sure water is pure if they drink from a natural source like ponds or rivers.
keeping up with breeding in pens to keep social happiness under check. Look out for sick animals that need quarantine quickly before the virus spreads to other animals. Changing toys out.

The tutorial for staff management was so confusing. You have to make a new work zone highlighting an exhibit, a keeper hut, and a staff room. Those 3. Then you name it something like Panda 1, Panda 2, or Leemer 1, Leemer 2. then you select the keeper and select the name you named it and it will work only on that exhibit and go to only that hut and staff room. Once I understood the mechanic it was fine. But it's clunky mechanic that can be way easier to execute. This is the same with mechanics.

There are so many mechanics in the game it really takes away from the game. The interface, the controls, all too clunky. No easy way of doing things, no easy way of rotating an item, or moving an item, there is no easy way of moving fences, upgrading the fence. It's all in menus with sliders and check boxes with a scroll list for days. It took me 3 hours to put 2 camels and 2 rhinos in my Africa park. Just making the entrance, 2 big pens, all the staff rooms. generator for power, and it looks so half @ss.

Overall this game has the most insane developer tools needed to make anything your mind desires. If you want to sit there and enjoy the animals, i suggest going on the workshop and subscribing to parks and things people made. The parks in the tutorial are absolutely stunning.

The game is for patient people that like to create. But this game is like the devs said here are the tools. Now have fun. But make no effort in making it into a actual game that people can enjoy. It's just a massive editor with the most game mechanics.

The game is clunky, just moving a wall, or customizing a building. All in menus with sliders without much mouse or keyboard shortcuts. No shortcuts what so ever. If I want to connect a beam that leads to this platform I have to press x and use this giro tilting thing to maneuver the piece with sliders you move up and down with the mouse. Every little thing you do has a secret menu with sliders. It gets very tedious. You do spend hours and hours into the game, and I feel like little progress has been made in my park because I am fiddling with controls and sliders to make things perfect.

There is a lot of stuff in this game. SO many things. If you like pulling your hair out, buy it. But if you just want to quickly jump in and have a zoo up and running in 4 hours. I doubt it. This feels like a editor more then a game.

GTX980 do not buy. Horrible port. Lags and crashes all the time. They did not test the game on any 9X series. Need high end card to play. Bad programmers.

EDIT : 2023 Review.

Still can't play the game. It gives me this weird error. I click ok then this super long box with text I don't understand pops up and the game crashes to desktop.

This is the worst BL game I have ever played. BL2 still the best one. This is why I didn't buy the Tiny Tina DLC. I upgraded my PC to 3070 and the game runs great. Until I got this error. Terrible programmers. Probably runs great on console but on PC it's TRASH!!!!!

The game has one mode at the moment. It is a bday theme game mode which your rich uncle gives you as much money as you can grab and play all the games you want forever.

Currently in the works is a survival mode which you need to eat, go home and sleep, earn money by pawn shop your prizes to keep going each day.

I tried playing the game without going for uncles wallet. I tried only using the money you start with and try and my own survival mode. Well the prizes don't sell for that much and you eventually go negative. Or I have not found a game that pays off well.

There is a small arcade like a pizza shop
Then the big arcade like a fun zone with laser tag
Then they have the carnival with rides and carnival games.

----------------------------------------------
My list of Cons:
The game lacks proper lighting, it needs some work. There are unlit areas of the arcade, maybe this is to keep load times down, but this game is dark and hard to see some things.
Lack of options for video settings.
Movement feels sluggish even with 70 fps, my movements and actions seem sluggish.
-----------------------------------------------

The best part of the game is the games it self. Once you slide that card in and start playing, there is no lag, great sound fx and visual fx on the games. The respond instantly without hiccup. But when I am out of a game and walking around the feel and movements feels laggy.

Other then that, really great game with tons of arcade games that actually work and have physics and everything.

There are leaderboards, but I hope one day the game goes multiplayer. I can see this being a blast on twitch.

Do not buy this game or any DLC. Game breaking bugs. The pizza DLC is broken, the game will lock up and you can not interact with anything and lose your save since you can not save now. The game has horrible bugs that break the game. I reported these bugs a year ago on the discord and I still get the same bugs. This is my last time installing this game. Don't waste your time or money. They keep pumping out DLC and not fixing the DLC that they already released.

This game has changed quite a bit since I last played it in 2018. The game is now free because Warhammer Darktide is on its way, at the time of this review.

I played this game during a free weekend back in the 2018 and I did not like it. But since the updates over the years it really has gotten that spin and shine look.

I would say get this game because it's free. I would say if you don't have back 4 blood in your library and didn't want to spend 60$ on a left 4 dead clone from wish, then I would say it's another reason to get this game.

Get it while it's free.
