Cold War XCOM, instead of fighting aliens you're fighting commies.

Early Access Review
Has potential, but few issues:
- No save on exit. While it's clearly intended to provide additional challenge, it clearly does more harm and take the fun away from players. I'd argue that it's better to enable save-on-exit, which gets deleted when you die after loading said save.
- Progress is painfully slow; bandits give ~100-150 EXP while you need around 2k EXP to level up upon reaching level 5 or 6. BUT WAIT, you won't be hitting those bandits because all you get to kill on level 5-6 are boars, deers and rabbits, which gives 5 EXP. God forbid you encounter a pack of wolves during your poaching session because they will end you and feed your remains to their cubs.
- Bears will tear even level 10 characters a new hole.

If you get erections from getting your ass torn apart, or getting your tiniest progress wiped from the smallest mistake, this is your game right here.

Fell Seal drew inspiration from FFT, and I have to say that they did a great job in making a spiritual successor. They did improve the job variation and system, enabling each character to dual class adds a lot to depths of strategy you could employ.

Story feel a bit short, but it does offer side-missions which could easily reach 60 hours worth of content even if you're not the grinding type.

Book of Demons suffer from chronic case of artificial difficulty. Later stages of the game, especially in harder difficulties, introduces mechanics that is specifically crafted to ruin your game, not to provide challenge.

Game was great for the first 20 hours. After that it just become too tedious and too repetitive.

This would be the first Behemoth game that I can't recommend. The game itself is beautiful, wacky, and has the usual Behemoth humor, but the combat simply feels too slow. The fact that Pit People has an auto-resolve feature (Auto Combat) is a telling sign, and even that does not completely resolve the issue with combat pacing. Every fight is a chore and they always last twice as long as they needed to.

It's a shame because I've followed this game from the early access, but there's not enough bite in the game to compensate the combat.

There's no feat harder than finding the perfect balance between difficulty and reward in a rouge-like games, and I think the devs botched this gem with their last update.

There is now a soft-cap that limits how hard you can hit a boss, which is currently set at 5%. This renders hard hitting weapons obselete, and there's no point in rolling high risk-high reward weapon bonus (eg, +100% damage done to enemies, +100% damage taken).

I understand that balancing the game is not a simple matter, but giving out punishment in order to force people to play your game the way you want them to be is never a good idea - let alone making your game more difficult by relying on something cheap like artificial difficulty.
