Description
The Popcorn Miner is a minimalist design that is used as a very early survival game to significantly enhance the player's ore detection and extraction process. Built of only 29 components (1,080 PCU) and eschewing all unnecessary parts, the Popcorn Miner is comprised of the following small-grid components and parts, all of which can be built using a basic assembler:

29 COMPONENTS
1 drill
1 cockpit
1 medium cargo container
1 O2/H2 generator
1 battery
1 gyroscope
16 small atmospheric thrusters
1 connector
2 interior lights
1 spotlight
1 landing gear
1 ore detector
1 antenna

PARTS
176 steel plates
16 metal grid
31 interior plates
446 construction components
305 motors
24 large steel tubes
7 small steel tubes
36 computers
6 displays
32 bulletproof glass
20 power cells
4 radio communication components
1 detector component

This mining ship will carry a full load of ice in the O2/H2 generator, and a fully loaded cargo container, connector, cockpit, and drill without any problem, whether you're playing at 1X (realistic), 3X, 5X, or 10X cargo settings. The connector is necessary for recharging the battery by connecting to another grid's power supply, and for the convenience of dumping acquired ore.

This is a first-level miner. My second- and third-level miners with significantly greater gathering and carrying capacity are:

Second-Level Miners
Claw Electric Miner: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1927544934
Claw XL Electric Miner: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1927545182

Third-Level Miners
Deep Reach: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1951091497
Deep Reach Hydro (for moons and space): https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1970044875

NOTE
I was able to boost the ore capacity, in 1-1-1 survival mode, to nearly 120 tons by adding half a dozen small batteries to the butt-end of this thing; they help keep the thrusters running at full capacity.

No problem. Feel free to use any of my designs freely as you wish. Thanks for asking.

Me again Spaceman, mind if I grab a copy of this one too? I hope that silence was your ascent. They are nice looking ships but also , so very compact. It's a good job you've done. Cheers mate.

so good thanks for sharing

also if you use a spacer ring then you could mount 2nd drill to side of dock once cargo moved
jarhead 1 Feb, 2020 @ 6:32pm
dock could be on bottom of cockpit directly just moving the cargo makes boring easier

I hate rear docking; I always seem to bang into things no matter how much I try to be careful. Like most builds, there's 1,000 different ways to accomplish the same thing. This is just one way...

would also allow swaping of drill to other tools/weapons incase of other needs

i like the idea but i would personally move the cargo and dock to rear then adjust other stuff so it can bore holes easier

I'm glad it helps. I found this little guy really useful when I was playing a survival game that had my jetpack disabled.

Thank you very much for this. Good man. That's what I need.
