Better City Names

Description
⭐ The first City Rename mod for Rome Ⅱ on Steam Workshop! ⭐

20/09/2023 Update! Mod updated to the latest version of the game.

-----------------------------------------

The mod fixes the names for the cities of the Grand Campaign. Some of the settlements on the map were given wrong and anachronistic names (such as Qart Hadasht), while some other were named in favor of less significant settlements (such as Velathri). This small mod comes to correct this.

-----------------------------------------

List of all Grand Campaign city name changes:

Lepcis → Lepcis Magna
Qart Hadasht → Carthago Nova
Arsè → Saguntum
Medhlan → Mediolanum
Velathri → Arretium
Cosentia → Kroton
Brundisium → Tarentum
Iol → Cartenna
Pulpudeva → Philippoupolis

Below, is the explanation for the name changes:
Mediolanum: although both the names Medhlan and Mediolanum are valid for the city, the name Mediolanum was more popular in this time period, at which the campaign begins, and was the actual name of the city during the Roman era. [Requested by the gamers]
Philippoupolis: this was actually the correct name for the city in this time period, and especially during its control by the Greek kingdom of Macedon. Philippoupolis is Greek name and means "the City of King Philip (of Macedon)", while the Pulpudeva is just the barbarian version of it.
Carthago Nova: Carthago Nova and Quart Hadasht are some of the multiple names given to the Spanish city of Cartagenna. Although the name Quart Hadasht is valid, it was a bit anachronistic for this time period. The city was given the name Carthago Nova which means New Carthage, to commemorate Carthage's successful conquests on Spain.
Arretium: For the Romans, Arretium. For the Etruscans, Aritim. The city of Arretium/Aritim was militarily more important than the town of Velathri. Arretium was noted for being one of the most important Etruscan (and later, Roman) cities in the region. The city was notable for its barracks during the Roman era, where soldiers trained and bolstered the ranks of the Legions.
Leptis Magna: it is a historically valid name for that time period and alternative to Lepcis. [Requested by the gamers]
Saguntum: Arsè (well, I am forced to spell the name of the city using "è" instead of "e", because the Steam Workshop censors the real name which is Arse) was in fact the original name for the city. But, for a time period and during the Punic Wars, it was also known by the name Saguntum. Both names were used together to describe the city, for a period. However, the name Saguntum, became the formal and sole name after the Roman conquest of the city.[/i] [Requested by the gamers]
Cartenna: The town of Iol played a prominent role during (and after) the Roman times, and was the birthplace of many notable Romans. This is partially reflected by the fact that the Romans renamed the town into Iol-Caesarea. However, for the time period of the Grand Campaign, the nearby port city of Cartenna was noted for its significant sea trading and exports of North African grains to Europe, and particularly, ancient Rome. [Requested by the gamers]
Kroton and Tarentum: they were of the most significant and promient cities in Magna Grecia.

This small mod is fully compatible with every mod out there (even Radious Total War)! My mod is fully compatible with any other mods, except for the ones that change the start_pos_settlements.loc (located at: text → db → start_pos_settlements.loc).

-----------------------------------------

Credits to CA for the game, and to the community for the idea.

-----------------------------------------

The neusaap.uit.brazil's Better Region Names Mod is pretty good to be used along with my mod! The two mods are 100% compatible and fit well with each other!

Also, give a try to: Radious Total War Mod, Roman Houses: Familiae Romanae Mod, and, of course, my Classic UI Mod!

-----------------------------------------

I hope that you liked it! This is the very first and standalone City Rename Mod ever made for the game and the Steam Workshop! Any positive feedbacks and critics are welcomed!

If you are interested, I accept City Rename requests, as long as they are reasonable, and historically valid. Please provide me with as many details as possible and think about it well before suggesting a city name's change.

Enjoy!

The... the actual name of Carthago Nova IS Qart Hadasht. Also Qart Hadasht / Carthago / Carthage means "New City", so Carthago Nova means "New New City" lol

So I loaded it up and Capua replaces Neapolis. Was this intended?
