Description
Hard Mode Difficulty Mod
Bringing together a collection of mods intended to be played along with the Hard Mode Difficulty Mod for an easy user set up.

Now compatible with Plant and Cook and other mods that require getting organics from stone.

Introduction
This is a mod for people that like a lot more survival challenge.
It introduces bottle necks in hydrogen production and other resources making them a lot more valuable than previously. You might call this a difficulty overhaul.
My aim is to make it easier for people to play in a way, where taking damage to their ships could lead to escalating problems that need to be solved. Winning a fight with damage, may now lead to your end.

Be warned that not all starts are possible to survive. If you can’t get ice for oxygen in your spawn location within a reasonable time frame (1 minute walk) you will have to restart.
Keep in mind, ice is needed for filling O2 bottles, oxygen farms and tanks are intended for filling airtight spaces.

Don’t forget to take a look at the difficulty rating in the spawn/respawn menu.

Note: Resources are intentionally limited rather drastically in some locations.

Features
  • Big changes to oxygen balance increasing the value of oxygen and oxygen generation.
  • Rebalance to increase the value of hydrogen and put a bottle neck in the production system.
  • Added variation in stone (Refined Stone)
  • Altered yields of some ores and stone types.
  • Custom ore maps including asteroids TOOM
  • Reduced surface ore rock count
  • Nerfed player jetpack.
  • Tweaked overall power demand a little.
  • Increased the need for more exploration and gave reason for space travel.
  • More damage from not breathing.
  • Tweaked meteors to give different options.
  • Weather has been tweaked slightly to be a little more draining.
  • Rebalanced lightning (annoying is not difficult). Small grid builds now viable in normal weather (Hard Mode).
  • Everyone now has the mass equal to that of a small lioness, do with this information as you will.
  • Station prices tweaked.
  • Added new weather.
  • Added less common ‘deadly weathers’. These can hurt your small grids so protect them.
  • Reduced mob drops
  • Some components may cost a little more to make now.
  • Interior turret got a tiny damage boost as the weapons 1 updated nerfed it just a hair too far for my liking. No other weapons changes have been made.
  • Changes to planets all over.
  • Changed progression tree to make decoys available without having to build turrets, cos lightning.
  • Custom respawn ships/pods/rovers.
  • Probably other stuff I forgot to note down \o.o/_,

Setting up your game.
This mod is intended to be played on, Custom game: Star System. although other modes probably work as the mod is very flexable.

"Advanced" settings. Mostly optional, these settings just make sense.

Tested at x3 (default) but realistic is still playable.

Normal or Cataclysm (Not required).
Normal: After 5 hours meteors hit every 4 - 6 hours. (Vanilla 1-180mins)
Cataclysm: After 3 hours meteors hit every 2 hour - 4 hour. (Vanilla 1-60mins)
Armageddon: After 30 mins meteors hit every 12 secs - 2 hour. (Vanilla 1-10mins)

With no cobalt or stone your likely have to turn meteors on and wait for cobalt to land. Finding stone? Good luck.

Iron from stone is a little lower than most places on average.

Hard
No ice! Normal stone.
You will end up flying to a planet more or less right away as there is no ice in space and few resources. There also maybe many hostile ships in space making it rather challenging.

All permissions were given for rebalancing/patching.
Mods dependencies, I attempted to contact most creators, however this proved difficult in practice. Please let me know in the unlikely event that there is a problem.

Have tested this and I am correct. Once you eat anything you can no longer open your helmet outside a pressurized grid. Doesn't make it unplayable but def increases the difficulty.

Ok. O2 high and warm. Try to eat and I start dying and cannot close my helmet because I'm eating. even holding f on survival kit i die before i can close my hood.... On Earth...... With high O2 and warm. I think your mod may be broken.

Ok, I like the balancing of resources and what not....... But dying of a lack of O2 because a friggin snow storm blew in is ridiculous........ The bottle cannot even last through one of the every 30 second storms.

Good job! This Mod is a crazy roll from realism to masochism! I have no doubt that there will be fans of this style of gameplay. However, it must be admitted that this is not a story about an Engineer. This is the endless torment of an uneducated digger who breaks everything he touches.

anyone else taking damage with the visor open, even on earth in broad daylight and clear, warm weather? i have to keep the helmet closed anytime i am in or near a grid.

Divide 60 again, you have minuets. you should get about 5 hours ;) But the max speed is 150 not 100 in the mod pack. thus 3hours and then some ! I have no clue what your reading or doing ... there is not gold on the Earthlike Moon and I didn't update the read me lol

Just for the record. The math = Earth to Europa is 1816km, 100msx60=6000metres per hour. 1816000 / 6000 = 302.6 Hours

I think you missed my point. Don't get me wrong i'm not complaining, I am loving the challenge. I was simply trying to point out that your readme says no gold on the moon, But there is, for which I am glad of due to starting on Earth. Travel from Earth to Moon for gold, Sweet. but travel from Earth or moon to Europa? That's 302 hours of manual travel at 100 m/s.Regardless these numbers are irrelvant as there is gold on the moon. Just trying to provide some Readme feedback :)

Idk about days, Earth to Mars is apparently 0.8647 jumps. So it’s more like 3 hours with the mod pack, maybe 4 with things happening. Plan to build some as you fly, and deal with Reavers and such :D Or you could always start on Mars \O.o/ it’s not supposed to be easy. If I gave you free gold you’d have no reason to travel. Mars has no silicone ores, so your limited on the solar power that you might wish to use on Europa that has much gold, so now you have a reason to go looking for silicone on another planet, that kind of thing. But failing that I’m sure some of the Reavers have gold in them.. somewhere lol. Not sure how many you’d need to take out but some even have jump drives. From earth or moon, I’d pack plenty of bullets and head to Europa with some processing, mining and defensive abilities. Reavers can hit hard and fast! IIRC?
