[Duid's] Better Basties

Description
A port of the warhammer 2 mod

Ever felt that the bastiladon is useless? at least in the campaing he becomes obsolete at the exact turn he is usable, this mod aims to give him a niche, he won't be the road-roller that is the stegadon, but he will become a anchor of sorts, the true lizardmen tank.

Changes to all bastiladons:

-HP increased to about 200 more than stegadon.
-Melee defense increased from 28 to 40.
-Melee attack increased from 22 to 26.
-Charge bonus increased from 36 to 50.
-Increased missile resistance from 15% to 25%.
-Added a bronze shield with 35% chance to parry missiles.
-Added 10% ward save.
-Increased weapon damage from 90 base and 160 ap to 120 base and 200 ap.
-Attacks now splash to 5 models instead of only 4.
-Increased the recruit cost and upkeep to match the stegadons in the same tier.

Specific changes:

-Ark of Sotek now has 15% magical resistance.
-Ark of sotek now has a passive version of its ability called Nova of sotek, active on melee.
-Ark of sotek ability now deals damage: 3 base 2 ap.
-Ark of sotek ability cooldown has been increased from 60 to 80 seconds, to help balance the new damage component
-Revification Crystal now has 15% physical resistance.
-Revification Crystal now has the Revification aura ability, it heals and reduce fatique to all units around it.
-Solar Beam now has 15% fire resistance.
-Solar beam ammunition increased from 18 to 20.

Someday, I hope this gets updated to modern times. I really loved the bonuses it gave, made Bastiladons actually feel like they mattered.

I am so happy you made this I love bastiladons they are one of my favorite units and its so meant that people dunk on them. there such nice little tanks, simple and elegent.

Whoa good point... i've updated the mod to include a 1.5 splash attack multiplier now, thanks for the tip man, if you got anything more to say, please feel free to do so.

For an example: a dino with 250 weapon strength and multiplier of 1 does 250 damage against a single target, and 250 against multiple targets, split. a unit with 200 weapon strength, but 1.5 multiplier, does 200 versus a single creature (50 less), but deals 200*1,5= 300 damage against multiple targets (the 300 are split by the number of targets hit). You can also use this to make the opposite work for other lords/monsters etc: high damage, but a multiplier below 1 makes it a good duelist, but bad when dealing with crowds. Sadly CA never took much advantage of the system.

i uploaded none of my old mods, outside of one for the dreadsaurian, but i did extensive reworking of the large lizardmen dinosaurs. I found, the ideal nieche the bastilodon should occupy is "good versus a lot of small things, but not as good against bigger things". There is a really great way to achieve that: there's a damage multiplier in the melee weapons table that allows your creature to do more damage when it hits more than 1 creature. This way, you can build a creature with rather low actual damage, which makes it weaker vs other big creatures, but with the multiplier you can increase the damage for hitting multiple targets.

even if we fully ignore armor and say everyone is naked, 64 damage would still not be enough to one-hit bretonnian man at arms, since they have 65 hitpoints per model. (you need to add +8 HP to the value in the land units table to get the actual HP per unit, and another 8HP if its mounted)
Same 65HP with the spearmen, or chameleon skinks etc. And those are all low HP units.

Hey Ruben, i apreciate the feedback but no the increased to models hit is not a nerf, with this mods the original damage is in total 250 that damage is divided by four resulting in 62,5 damage per model, with this mod every bastiladon deal in total 320 divided by 5 that results in 64 damage per model, bonus vs infantry not whistanding btw, unless we are talking about high tier elite infantry, this change avoids damage overkill, overrall buffing the bastiladon.
