Stellaris Texture Pack - Better Arcologies for Planetary Diversity 2K

Description
THIS MOD IS CURRENTLY BEING UPDATED

NOT ACHIEVEMENT COMPATIBLE

This is the LITE version of this mod. If you want higher quality textures, please download the 4K version here (Strong computers only):

If you use don't use Planetary Diversity, please download the base game only version here:

It is not necessary to download both, please only use one or the other.

Better Arcologies is a re-imagining of my old mod Better Ecumenopoli, and is a complete re-work of the base game Ecumenopolis and Relic Worlds. I always found the base game Ecumenopolis texture to be ugly and lacking in variety. This mod adds new 2K textures for arcologies, with variation for each species based on ship set. This mod also includes new textures for the Planetary Diversity add-on 'More Arcologies'.

This mod includes the following:
  • 3 new custom made Ecumenopolis textures for each shipset/species, including Fallen Empires, for a total of 53 textures, as well as an additional texture from Immersive Galaxy.
  • 9 new custom made textures for Relic Worlds
  • New textures for all arcologies in the Planetary Diversity add-on 'More Arcologies', including unique Capital and Palace textures & colours for every species/shipset.

Each species has their own light and planet textures, as well as their own colours. These textures are determined by the shipset you select at the start of your game.

This mod needs to be placed BELOW Planetary Diversity and its add-ons in your load order otherwise it will NOT work, because PD will overwrite the files in this mod. This is an extremely important step. It should also be placed below Real Space if you use it.

This mod should be compatible with most mods on the Workshop as it is purely a texture mod and does not alter any gameplay. However, there are some conflicts that might arise below:

  • Real Space: This mod is compatible with Real Space, however I recommend you download my Real Space Fix here, so you won't get any glitches:

  • Custom Shipsets: This mod works by coding the arcology textures to shipsets. Because of this, my textures will not appear if you use a custom shipset. Because there are so many shipsets on the Steam Workshop, I will probably not be creating any compatibility patches.(See 'Notes' below regarding this issue)

If you use a custom shipset, you can you console commands to get the textures to appear in-game. To get a list of the entity names you need to go into the mod file in your Steam Workshop folder (Steam>SteamApps>workshop>content>Stellaris) and then go to GFX>models>planets and look at the asset files. In-game, open your console menu and enter the code below:

EXAMPLE (Click on planet first)
effect set_planet_entity = { entity = humanoid_01_city_planet_entity_01 }

There are three entities for most textures, and most entities follow a similar naming structure (Plantoid_01, Necroid_01 etc...)

There is no longer a planetary decision to build a planetary arcology

Is there anywhere full list of asset id for manualy changing texture using comand? Couse apparently assets in steam workshop folders do not follow naming rule desribed in mod description but still for example effect set_planet_entity = { entity = humanoid_01_city_planet_entity_01 } us it states in nottification works.

So i learnt that the texture pack seem to be getting rid of the default archology decision it just doesnt seem to appear anymore in both 2k and 4k versions, wondering if this is a known bug or intentional.

Bug report: Using this mod removes holy world glowing effect.

Also, would it be possible to code the textures to city appearances? Maybe it could work with custom shipsets this way?

Yes, unfortunately life is busy right now but if someone is willing to give it a go i can add one to the mod.

i think it would be nice to add specifics textures for the arcologies in earth
Depraved Arachnophile 12 Oct, 2023 @ 6:01pm
The textures for the eco-arcology seem to overwrite anything relating to Earth. Instead of the Earth Eco-Arcology showing up, it just uses a default variant. Possible conflict? Known issue?
