Description
”The multiplayer match has ended. Dusk is setting in on Sandtrap, with the sandstorm dying down, and the blazing hot temperatures of the afternoon letting up for the evening. Little do the remnants know that Sandtrap about to heat up in an entirely new way. A Covenant Battle Cruiser has just entered the system, and the UNSC forces on the nearby Frigate are preparing their response. The Brutes are returning to retake what they have left behind.”

This is a mod I have been working on for the past few days, that changes Sandtrap into an AI war zone. I’ve been using this mod to help myself learn the H3 editing kit. You are able to join one of the factions to help turn the tide of the battle, or remain alone and survive against everyone in a free for all. There is full AI pathfinding nearly everywhere, with working Phantom drops for Covenant forces and Pelican drops for the UNSC. This mod also includes respawning AI controlled vehicles for each side. This battle will go on forever, with reinforcements being ferried in once a squad gets wiped out. Each team has a flying vehicle for support, as well as one light ground scout, and a heavier vehicle for combat. Vehicles respawn less often. There is also a hidden secret weapon, so keep a look out for that.

Features:

  • My custom AI Switch System, new and improved, which allows you to pick and choose which squads spawn in. You are in control!
  • Large AI war with all forces being able to respawn.
  • Pathfinding nearly everywhere!
  • Fully scripted dropships for each side to deliver more troops once a squad has been killed.
  • Multiple AI manned vehicles for each side to provide support, also respawn enabled. AI will get into vehicles with the player when he/she is nearby.
  • Special forces for each team that get replenished less often, so keep these guys alive!
  • Hidden Easter egg weapon to find.
  • Covenant outpost on the high sand dune, with a commanding view of the map. Keep an eye on this, as Beam Rifle Jackals and Fuel Rod Grunts like to post up here.
  • Over 70 potential AI combatants.
  • Covenant soldiers have random ranks/types and weapons, so each fight is different every time.
  • Marines, ODST's, and Spartans also spawn with random UNSC gear, to keep things fresh.
  • Phantom crash site has a mannable Shade turret that the AI will use.

Known Issues:

- There are some lighting bugs in the level due to me changing the sky and map lighting. I have not yet found a fix to this, but feel it is not a large enough bug to prevent this map from being in a good state for release.

@BIDUKE Thanks for playing. I'm glad you are enjoying the mod. As of right now I don't have any plans to make the mod use the original Sandtrap lighting. At least in my own lore I have the map taking place after the multiplayer match later in the evening. Maybe one day I can look into it, but not right now.

unpopular opinion but for me this is my fav AI h3 firefight mod , is simple easy to start you CAN use your MP spartan , is perfect , just i need to request if we can have the original lighting of the map , this night ver have some bugs in the the lighting.

Thats’s gonna be a tougher one. There are geometry issues with Sandbox which cause errors with the pathfinding calculations. Bungie left these errors in as they felt that the map will only be used for MP and never require any pathfinding. I’m thinking about trying to fix these myself and make the map AI friendly.

@Finallilman04 There's a scarab gun like the one in Halo 2. It is hidden in the secret room, but not an actual scarab that you can fight.

It has been a long time coming - but finally I have another update worthy of you guys ready for download today. The highlight is the first time ever debut of my "AI Control System 2.0", which features great improvements over the initial implementation on my previous maps. Also added to this map is an even more upgraded AI system, as well as a vastly expanded Forge palette! Read below for a full list of all changes that happened with this update. Enjoy!
