[WOTC] Chimera Squad: Verge Squadmate

Description

This mod adds Verge from Chimera Squad as a custom Hero soldier to your game starting in the Gatecrasher mission.


VERGE

Verge was part of an ADVENT experiment to subvert Earth governments by mind-controlling human subjects. A master puppeteer, Verge used high-ranking officials to reassure the populace that the aliens had their best interests at heart. This intimate mental contact eventually led Verge to gain empathy for humanity, and he began supplying resistance groups with information.

STRENGTHS
  • Adept at disabling enemies and influencing their mental states, he is also skilled in telekinesis, able to rip enemies out of cover to improve squadmates’ hit chances.
  • Multiple Support skills including healing, boosting, and clearing mental status.
WEAKNESSES
  • Sectoid Melee Vulnerability resulting in +3 Damage taken for Melee hits.

NOTE

  • Verge can be added to your crew at anytime by using the Console command: AddVergeToHQ
  • This is my first published Mod other then the Verge Voice Pack. I tested this as much as I can but there may be a few bugs remaining. I have not tested him on rescue missions.
  • I would love to see Verge added through a different method, I tried multiple approaches however it was well beyond my Modding Skills. This may change in the future, however if someone else wants to make a mod for this or work with me on making a rescue mission for Verge please do.
  • Verge has a passive ability called Chimea Squad. This currently does nothing but perhaps some day it will grant bonuses or free actions to other Chimera Squad Squadmates.
KNOWN ISSUE
  • The Upper and Lower Face props seem to have a few extra lines added only for the Verge Character. I was not able to identify the cause but it shouldn't impact any other class.

MOD CONFIGURATION OPTIONS:

XComVergeSqudatemate.ini
  • Verge is added to the Gatecrasher mission in Squad Slot 4. You may change the squad slot number or not add him to the Gatecrasher mission at all. If AddToGatecrasher is set to false Verge will not spawn in the game without the Console Command AddVergeToHQ.
  • If Verge loses all of his HP he becomes unconscious up to once per mission. This can be changed by setting VergeCannotDie = false
XComEnvoy.ini
  • The Majority of the Skills added from this mod can be tweaked in this file.

I already subscribed to this mod while I was looking for a solution, but didn't have the heart to test it. At least it's there in case one day I forget and bring them on these missions again. :laughing_explorer: Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Yep, learned that the hard way. Not bringing him and Torque on these official/story missions. Still would love to have been able to mod his personal information like his names, nationality, voice, etc. Thank you for taking the time to reply, it is really appreciated. :KneelingBow:

I don't believe any custom characters can be brought on that story mission for that reason. You shouldn't run into that issue on any other missions. As far as adjusting the nationality as he is a custom character I believe you would have to program each flag on the back end to work with the Verge character template 'VergeSoldier'.

Oh, I now see that his ability is called Blink and is from Mitzruti's Perk Pack. So if it is possible to modify this ability in MPP ini file, it surely will take effect for Verge as well?

I was looking into XComEnvoy.ini and I see that more than half of Verge's skills are not in there (probably just the ones you created for him?). Is there a way I can also edit the other skills?

It would have been nice if you allowed us to change Verge nationality / flag instead of locking it. ^^'

I took him on the mission that introduce Reapers, and I can't extract him. He "doesn't count", the game don't recognise him being in the extract area... So I can't go further...

Hey in console what is Verge's name because it doesnt show up when u use Verge
