The mod sets the default chance of death for enemy pawns to 0% for all difficulty levels.

The mod is designed for lazy people like me. I'm tired of going into the difficulty settings every time I start a new game to adjust one single parameter. And I'm even more tired of situations where I forget to do it, which I remember after a couple hours of play. So I took a couple minutes and wrote this simple patch to solve my problem once and for all.

What are we talking about?

In the game, after you have slew an enemy pawn, there is a chance that it will die for no apparent reason. She may have all her vital organs intact, have enough blood, but she still dies. The idea itself is sensible, death by pain shock is realistic. Unfortunately, the sensible idea was poorly implemented. Instead of prescribing the normal mechanics of death by pain shock (based on checks for overall body integrity, blood count, pain shock level), everything is decided by a random number generator. This leads to a huge number of ridiculous deaths that are extremely unlikely.

Fortunately, the developer realized this and at a certain point added the ability to adjust the difficulty level very flexibly. One of the settings is responsible for the probability of enemy pawns dying when they are hit. By default, this is 100%. This doesn't mean that absolutely all pawns die, the mechanics are a bit more complicated, but most pawns die (I don't know why they had to be so clever by adding hidden checks, ask the developer).

My mod changes this value to 0%. With these settings pawns will die exclusively from wounds incompatible with life. Of course, all this can be adjusted manually. I just got tired of doing it, so I wrote such a patch. Set it and forget it.
Important point. Realistic deaths make the game a lot easier. It will be much easier for you to get clean gear, as well as capture prisoners. This is not a good thing. But it's still a lesser evil than putting up with stupid deaths. By the way, one of my mods (X - Undeterred Imperials) was written precisely to make it harder to get trophy armor from Imperial soldiers and deserters (the mod adds anesthesia chips to all of them, this makes them fight to the death, or until they lose the ability to stand on their feet).

Another important point. If you are playing with Combat Extended, you do not need this mod. CE also disables stupid deaths (for balance, the mod authors greatly increased the speed of bleeding - a curious solution, although I don't like it very much).

That's a good question. I don't know exactly, however I have them die very often. So I can conclude that this setting does not apply to them. Probably they are prescribed in the game as animals (and this setting only affects human enemies). I saw a mod somewhere in the workshop that allows you to adjust the chance of animal death, but it hasn't been updated in a while.

Does this do anything for Entities?

This is one of those few underrated must have mods for me, thank you. I absolutely abhor the entire downed on death concept - and notably, you HAVE to use custom storyteller settings to change it, which means you have to tweak all of the other values if you want to do this manually. You can't pick your difficulty level presets on the fly.

For those who hate how CE greatly increases the speed of bleeding, perhaps the solution is to also use the Non Lethal Bleeding mod (while having it below CE in your mod list)?
