Description
DO NOT USE WITH TED JAM - THIS MOD LOSES THE CONFIG WAR DUE TO LOAD ORDER

As of 29.5.2024, Mod Jam official devolepment has been stopped and it will not be updated anymore, hence this mod is now defunct.
As of 9.6.2024, all functionality related to PAs has been moved to this mod, download it for continued functionality
This also now means that these two mods work together.

Well, a fan made pseudo sub expansion for the Mod Jam collection, by player who has played this mod for way too long, given Kiruka is still away, i decided to make a special, testing mod for features, balance changes etc..., so they can be tested out in actual gameplay enviroment and not just text walls on Discord. If you are a defiler who uses non MJ collection mods, you might as well add this to the pile.

I dont really expect you to stick with this mod and you might dislike some changes, but like others or the new content, so you be the judge.

Balance patches are to be expected, crap stuff will get buffed, overpowered stuff will be nerfed when needed

I expect you to use the whole MJ collection by illogical and balancing will reflect on that, yes, this includes playing with Requiem Legion, time to buckle up, cuz its part of MJ now.
Double check you have everything here - if you miss something and still dont want to dowload it, then you take your fate to your hands.

Features:

  • Overhauled cryoweapons (My other mod, Cryo Weapon overhaul is redundant and you should disable it if you will run this one)

These now are gated behind cryolite, are more accessible and are much cheaper

  • Mod Jam features are now frontloaded, you start Gatecrasher with alien defector AND buildable unit

You start gatecrasher with defector alien AND frost droid (which is part of the proving ground unit family), these exist as to give players the taste of these branches of content and potentially, hook them up to seek it further.

  • Overhauled classes that got hit by redundancy bat due to power creep of new classes (Specialists, Technicals), reworked Dragoons and possibly more in the future (like Stormriders for having effectively only 1 build thats worth doing)

Specialist are now offense based gremlin users, they get scanning protocol baseline, lost medical abilities, gained more attack-protocols and stronger anti-mech gameplay role

Dragoons cant haywire anymore, only Hijackers and Specialists are remote-hackers now, Dragoons gained much stronger direct combat presence and can now behave more like Gunners, they still can shield their allies and recieved defense-based protocols.

Technicals were made almost obsolete by the existence of Juggernauts, now i swapped their perks to be more frontloaded earlier, just like Juggernauts, Technicals lost the whole suppression/fire support role and close range and can be build as pseudo-assaults, making them useful even after they run out of heavy weapon ammo stacks.

  • Attempted bug fixes of some things that can be fixed with my limited skillset

  • Nerfs to both XCOM and Advent

  • Buffs to XCOM and Advent

  • New features - MJ has plenty of unnused content, i necroed it back to life, 4 new or revamped items are now accessible (Curse canister, Shimmer vest, Thorn Ammo, Smart Ammo) and more in the future.

  • ALMOST EVERYTHING IS VISIBLE IN CONFIGS - SO ITS HIGHLY EDITABLE ON PLAYERS END - THOUGH BE WARY THAT EACH TIME I WOULD UPDATE THIS MOD, IT WILL PURGE YOUR WORK - make backup

  • New playable aliens

  • And more to come in future

+ I have some future plans or prototype content stashed there (like future trees), though some content might spawn out of thin air without being written here if i get inspired.

Compability ?
Made to work alongside Playable Advent - on gatecrasher, both Advent AND alien AND droid will be all present...giving you quite the platoon to start with.
Dont use this mod alongside the Cryo weapon overhaul mod i made - because this mod containts it already
Shouldnt be any other problem i think ? As long as you have functional MJ collection, use this

Given my mod is just a boot leg version of what Mod Jam is suppose to be, almost nothing in this mod is original, everything is pretty much derivates of more talented people than me, i used tutorials whenever possible and folks on Discord helped me get through this.

Ill link all mods that are used in my meta mod as form of credit too...hopefully i havent missed anyone.

Kiruka - While still absent from further dev of MJ, she is the source of everything here, pretty much everything she created is reused, repurposed and i simply learned from what she did.

The_Nocturni - Absolute mad lad that provided multitude of scripts that this mod uses, i cant state how much this person saved my sanity, thank you

Iridar - His tutorials were the foundation for this mod and his ghost assets were utilized as well (they were part of MJ already)

RustyDios - Even indirectly, he taught me the basics of localization and config inner workings, my other mods (Vanguard class, EIO) might have not even existed without his speedy help.

Illogical - For maintaining MJ collection

Mitzruti - As creator of Frost Legion, which my mod uses to make new content for MJ and not just Frost Legion, Additional Ammo and Additional vests, both of these mods are making an appereance in new form as i overhauled some of them to actually have a gameplay purpose, normally, things like shimmer weave is unnused in MJ, i brought it back to life so the effort in to making it for WOTC isnt lost. And top of this, their perks are used by the new classes.

Tedster - For being really helpful, despite being the main current LWOTC dev with metric tons of work to do, he hangs around with losers like me on Discord, he is truly the man of the people.

Captain Pet Rock - A good chunk of this mod was made in secret alongside Playable Advent and he is responsible for the Alien Gatecrasher script and generally, he helped me alot through the initial stages, i also utilize his perks for some of the new units.


Zamster - Part of his script to unlock repair facilities was repurposed for my mod as its needed to be able to repair the Frost Droid you start with...though i am still not sure if its even nessesary in MJ...there doesnt seem to be any harm in doing it though ?

Mr Danger Dude - Requiem Legion uses his animations for Taipans, i use Taipans and their animations as new unit

Reshikillim - Requiem Legion lady, i use sdk magic to give new ayys life as XCOM units so without her, there would be no Requiem content via this mod

Claus - The_Nocturni brought life to his Devastator, which exists as future playable alien i want to introduce and its not just his Devastator, but his Pathfinders as well, given i use WSR magic to transfer weapon appereance to one of the playable alien primary weapon.

ShinyMoogle - Creator of the original playable aliens, there wouldnt be like 7 playable vipers without the mod that started it all for WOTC.

Favid and Bstar - I utilize perks they have created for some of the classes


Ashlyn_Lee - Creator of the Muton Destroyer, which i turned in to Muton Sapper (The red muton)

LWOTC team (Peter, Grobobo and many, many others ) - We wouldnt be here without your work on converting LW2 to WOTC

Now on gatecrashing, if you have both the alien expanded AND this mod, you will start with both a droid AND alien.

Who can spawn on gatecrasher is curated, you cant get Andromedons...for obvious balancing reasons, but a chunk of the roster can spawn there.

Thank you very much for the responses. I did install your standalone expanded aliens mod and I expected to start with an alien, because the research blurb mentions "the alien and it's mechanical companion" or something like that. If now the aliens come only later on, that's fine, I was just worried my setup is broken. Thanks again!

You dont start with playable alien anymore with this mod, just droid, this is for the reason i already spoken about - expanded playable aliens used to be part of this but it became its own mod. So if you want new ayys, download that as that is the mod that actually focuses on adding more to this mechanic.

Q3: i've started 2 times and I'm consistently getting a frost droid, but no alien. Is it because of LWOTC Experimental (and so Highlander Beta)? MJ worked fine for me with Experimental before (and, e.g., for DerAva's recent streamed campaigns).

nowadays its on freeze given MJ collection is dead and wont be advanced further, so i shifted my focus on new custom content, the expanded playable aliens, which origins were in this mod.

This mod was balanced (When i was still working on it) with the stable LWOTC in mind and it works with both LWOTCs, and yes this has compability with the requiem mods and refinements for MJ given that was pretty much where this mod originated in.

If there were any known incompabile mods, i would have listed them in the description.
