Description
Going Bananas over Vanilla's United Fruit Co. Flag?

This mod is a proof-of-concept on how to add unique company nations with its own unique flag, name and even tag without needing to overwrite any vanilla code or files and greatly increasing company countries' modding potential.

Seven unique company nations have been added by this mod which will be formed when its relevant company completes its colonization charter, with each sporting its own unique flag instead of a randomly generated one. This mod is safe to be added mid-playthrough, and should be compatible with most mods as it does not modify any vanilla files.


For Modders: How it is Done

Company nations are generated nations that do not have its own unique tag. So if you want to give a particular company nation its own unique flag, you would have to modify the DEFAULT flags found in flag_definitions. However, any modification to the DEFAULT flags can't be shared between mods, so if two mods decides to add company flags through this method only the code from one of these mods will be read.


What this mod does instead is utilize the on action on_country_released_as_company_subject to force the newly formed company nation to tag switch to a pre-determined tag. With the company nation now assigned a unique tag, you can customize this nation however you like as you would with a regular tag. This comes with the added benefit of allowing mods that add companies to also customize its flag without making it incompatible with other mods that does the same, and also simplifying more advance modding of company countries like assigning unique events for them.


Enough Yapping, What Did You Add Mod Creator?

The following seven companies now have its own unique company nation:
- United Fruit Company
- Ford Motor Company
- FIAT
- General Electric
- Carnegie Steel Company
- William Cramp & Sons
- Standard Oil

I may expand on this list in the future, but no promises. This mod is mostly to act as a proof-of-concept to other modders on how to make cross-compatible company flags and assigning unique tags to company countries.


Language Support

Only English is natively supported by this mod.

Quite a shame really that Paradox didn't allow us to give an owned state to a company to establish their colony

Otherwise it would be really cool to create a United Fruit or Fordlandia in the places they actually operated in. But alas

Yeah, this mod is more for showing how to give these company nations a unique tag for greater customization and modding potential. The hope is that more modders will utilize this method

Well, the mod is very cool but unless Fordlandia can be somehow released without the DLC I might need to wait before using the mod until I can use it to the fullest.

Fordlandia shall rule the earth at some point.

Oh, the second last screenshot is meant to be a proof of concept to modders on how you can also add your own dynamic names to these company nations through this method lol

Oh yeah that's fair enough.

So the only way to play Henry Ford's Wild Ride is to get the Ford Motor Company with colonial charters and switch to them somehow? No way to spawn or release an already independent Fordlandia in any way like in the second to last screenshot?

Oh right I forgot that colonial charters is DLC locked whoops

The only way to play these nations is through establishing them through colonial charters, since what this mod basically does is forcefully tag switch a generated company nation that is owned by a relevant company to a custom one made by this mod. It still retains every functionalities/laws/modifiers etc. of the original company country

(Also considering this doesn't have Charters of Commerce as a required DLC is it possible to play these nations as vanilla releaseables? Or is there like a debug mode command you can do to play as them?)
