Gotta Catch Them All

Have you ever tried going on a grand campaign from Wallachia all the way up to forming the HRE, or uniting Ethiopia with a dark horse candidate like the Somali Harar, only to discover your spanking new tag is now discriminating against your native culture because the new tag has a predetermined set of Primary Cultures that doesn't include all of your old ones?

This mod aims to alleviate that problem by making formables inherit every (vanilla) Primary Cultures of the tag that formed them. So edge case candidates that can form the HRE such as France, the Danubian State, and Yugoslavia will now add their old Primary Cultures to the existing HRE ones. No more will the French be prosecuted in the HRE after they formed it (unfortunately). This will also work for modded tags, so as long as the Primary Cultures are from vanilla Victoria 3.

Culture Stacking

Using this mod allows you to culture stack as you move between formables, allowing for more versatile tag hopping campaigns. Schleswig → North German Federation → Scandinavia → Central Europe, or Columbia District → USA → Imperial Federation from Kikko's Formable and Releasable Nations are now viable strategies as you collect the cultures required to form them.

Discrimination? I hardly knew her.

For performance reasons, variables used by this mod to track cultures updates at the start of the year (Jan 1) in-game. Hence, you may need to pass that date if you get new, or lose, Primary Cultures via events or country formation before forming another country.

Quirky Rhine Candidates

Did you know that as long as your subject's capital is in either the Rhine, North Germany, or South Germany region the game can pick it to become the Confederation of the Rhine? And I mean any subject, but priority is given to the most powerful in the region.

Unfortunately they will only have their old Primary Cultures and not add North and South German into their mix. So this mod rectifies it by adding them if the Rhine doesn't have those cultures.

This means that an HRE with Turkish as a Primary Culture is 100% possible, or a fully realized Turtle Island HRE with every North American culture under the sun.

The cuisine here must be amazing.

Compatibility

DO NOT use this mod together with Total Conversion/Alternate History mods, especially those that remove vanilla cultures. This will cause the game to spam the error log with thousands of errors per tick trying to find the missing cultures, causing the game to slow down. I have not tested this mod with Victorian Flavor Mod yet however, so unless one of the devs removed a vanilla culture you could use this mod with VFM at your own risk.

Likewise, do not also use this with older versions of Victoria 3, as the cultures that may not exist in that version of the game will also cause a performance-killing error spam.

Performance Disclaimer

While on my device I do not notice any discernible performance difference, the mod brute forcing through every country once every twelve in-game months would still have an impact on performance. Hence, I would like to give a fair bit of warning to users on weaker devices before downloading this mod. This mod should be safe to be deactivated mid-playthrough once you've gotten what you wanted out of it if you have reservations about performance.

"Paradox just released Patch x.69 Boba Tea. Is this mod safe to use?"

Fortunately you don't have to wait for this mod to update every Vicky 3 patch! The mod doesn't touch any vanilla files, so unless Paradox does some major reworks with the mechanics used in this mod (or in the worst case scenario, remove an existing culture from the game files) then there should be no worry of incompatibility or breaking with each game update.

My Other Mods

Waifu Britannica, the anime flag mod.

Every Chinese Culture Can Actually Form China, which expands who can form China.

Modded Map Themes, which adds different map themes in the Theme Selector.

Toggle Flag Flutter, funni button to make the flag stop going 'weeee'

Vanilla Formables Expanded, which makes a bunch of vanilla tags formable once they no longer exist.

No More Princes! (And Other New Government Types), which adds a bunch of new Government Types.

Historical Start Date Kings, which adds historical rulers to a bunch of countries that didn't ship with one.

Unique Company Nations, adds company nations with its own unique flags.

A huge shout-out to 1230james for recommending me a better way to code this mod.

oh whoops! Sorry for the false alarm then

@🦈Lily🦈 ah sorry about that, I think what happened here is that you formed Afghanistan too quickly before the 1 year check, so the flag to keep Persian didn't get added to Herat

Still, I thought I used a new on_action from update 1.9 to add this flag to all countries after lobby start, but it turns out I made it trigger the wrong one lol. I've just released an update so now cultures should be able be inherited from the starting year itself

It seems like the 1.9.7 update is incompatible - tested with only this mod and loading as Herat, forming Afghanistan no longer keeps Persian.

@recommendations - As mentioned below, Herat has Persian primary culture, so the Durrani Empire can rapidly integrate and get full rights for Persia and Afghanistan from game start, Punjab and Sindh on forming Pakistan, and then all of India if you'd like to expand that far. Very powerful and a very fun run. You could also go Turkestan instead of India.
Unfortunately the unique name and flag only apply to Afghanistan.

You can also create the special Platinean version of the Andes Federation as a Platinean culture and not start suddenly discriminating against your own core population!

The mod description mentions the Schleswig run to integrate Scandinavia into Central Europe.

If you want to absolutely maximise your number of primary cultures, I think Transylvania -> Romania -> Danubian State -> Central Europe is a contender, with a final result of 14 primary cultures.

@nosquimoriturisumus I suppose that's just part of the fun you can have with this Mod, create ridiculous formables, and with it get more control over things
SnowBear  [author] 4 Dec, 2024 @ 5:45am
@nosquimoriturisumus Obviously that means Herat must pursue its destiny in forming a new Persian dynasty 😌

I mean this mod brute forces its way to bypass Paradox's static Primary Cultures for formables, so unintended consequences like that is more feature than bug

There's a balance issue with this mod when playing Herat. Herat is the only Afghan nation with Persian as a primary culture, so when it keeps that culture when forming Afghanistan, gg_afghanistan.4 gives claims on every Persian homeland as well as the ones it's supposed to give (Pashtun and Tajik homelands). Unfortunately it looks like the way to fix it is modifying gg_afghanistan.4 to exclude Persian homelands, and that requires overwriting vanilla script.

Basic little thing that may be out of the scope of this mod, but I'd love to be able to play as Fennoscandia without the Monarchy restriction. Could that be fixed/changed in some way? I've tried looking through the files a little but I'm no pro modder and I can't figure out how to fix it
