HOPEFULLY fixed a new crash bug....

Increased the effectivness of Ion and Heavy Missile platforms vs Frigates by 25%, and vs larger caps by 50%, because they sucked.. hopefully now people will start to use them.

All HW1 Corvettes K/T damage vs Frigates, and large/small capital ships Increased to 1.5x: this was done to make the corvettes deadly to larger ships when swarming. just like in hw1.
HW1 corvettes could easily kill capital ships or small isolated groups of capitals when massed.

HW2 Corvette HP increased: i didn't want to do this. but i had to in order to keep balance with the changes to the HW1 corvettes HP.

Hw1 and HW2 fighters effectiveness vs corvettes increased by 1.5 to help maintain the balance and negate corvette HP changes.

K/T and V, assault frigates have had their weapons damage vs corvettes specifically buffed. to help maintain the old balance. ALL Other weapons and units have also been tweaked to accommodate for the new corvette HP changes.
including hard counters like Lance fighters, pulsar corvettes, Missile corvettes, and torpedo frigates.


K/T resource collector and controller max speed slightly increased. new speeds are now 135/120 respectively vs 110/100.

HW1 Bomber Bomb FX changed. plasma bombs are now visible.

HW1 Bomber effectiveness vs larger capital ships increased to keep them competitive with HW2 bomber squads.

Vaygr and HW2 race Unit cap restored to Historical HW2 levels for Small and Default settings.

Gun platforms for V/H races have had a small accuracy and damage increase VS corvettes in light of the new changes.


This particular mod update may seem scary, but the goal of it should be to maintain the feel of how things worked before, while restoring HW1 Corvettes and strike craft to their original levels/effectiveness. WITH OUT making them slaughter the hell out of HW2 races..
its a bit of a mouth full, and a complex task as you can imagine.

HW1 Corvette HP increased to original HW1 levels. To improve their effectiveness

HW1 Corvettes Damage vs frigates and light capital ships increased to improve their effectiveness. Corvettes in the 1st game were brutal and had a point.
In-mass they could easily take down single or small groups of capital ships.
How ever, sadly they are pointless in the current build of HWR like alot of other things... am i right people? =P

HW1 bombers HP increased by 10 to help durability.

Fighters tweaked even more.
were alittle to strong with changes.

Kushan/Taiidan Assault Frigates Rate of fire reduced by 25%: they fired at a silly rate by defalt. but now with the changes to the accuracy/attack profile, the ROF/damage was to high with the upgraded accuracy.


this also makes them less of an anti everything frigate like they currently are now, and will help with the speed at which the crio trays die on M3, buying people more time.

getting that HW1 feel back, 1 patch at a time =)


PS: also upgraded the speed of HW1 missile and Standard destroyers to make them keep up with frigate formations like they use to.

i think ive got the fighters weapons pretty close to where i want them. might need some fine tuning later but. its good for now.

additional Trial and error Tweaks to HW1 fighter weapons. (again doing this in just .txt with out the aid of the old HW2 weapon tools.) very hard to see what youre doing.

-Research cost and time for HW1 Races reduced by 25%:

Its far to easy for HW2 races to Frig or destroyer rush the HW1 guys. and their research is extremely slow. another issue ill try to correct is the fact that HW1 races research ships are not speeding up the research when more than 1 is built.

HW2 guys should be happy, i considered removing costs for HW1 research completely as they never had to pay for it in HW1.

another factor to consider is HW2 guys start with their corvettes and fighters, all they need to do is build a module. this is NOT the case for HW1. EVERYTHING must be researched, which slows them down way to much to be balanced. especially coupled with the Multi research ship bug.


-Costs for all HW1 fighters and corvettes and frigates lowered to their historical amount:

-Tweaked HW1 Fighter and interceptor rate of fire.

-HW1 Assault frigate accuracy SLIGHTLY increased vs all strike craft.

i will be working on more HW1 fighter tweaks, as well as trying to figure out a way to get repair working on the cryo trays in HW1 mission 3.

-Taiidan & Kushan: Sensor arrays Detection range increased, and added a Sensor ping ability.

-Taiidan & Kushan: assault frigates attack profile fixed. They will now turn to face corvettes and fighters, thus allowing all guns to fire on them, improving accuracy and kill rates.

-Taiidan & Kushan: assault frigates plasma bomb FX replaced with a Larger plasma bolt to bring back the feel of the HW1 units. The ones currently in HWR are to small.

-UI scaling changed: I made the selected units window scale. So its not so small.

-Taiidan & Kushan: Gravitywell Generators will now jam vaygr corvettes, this was a hell of a game breaking bug.

-Taiidan & Kushan: Resource collectors can now hyper space like they did in HW1.

-Mission 3 Cryo Trays: HP increased to help counter the insta kills.

-Taiidan & Kushan Capital ships, frigate - supers cost and built time changes. Now quite at HW1 level, but on average they cheaper and build faster.

-Taiidan & Kushan: Missile Destroyers Missiles Fixed they now properly hit targets.

-Taiidan & Kushan: Corvettes accuracy changes. I greatly Ramped up the accuracy for all corvettes, as it stood they were nothing like in HW1, and even against HW2 units they were totally useless. I also changed their accuracy vs capitals and made them rarely miss those.

-Taiidan & Kushan: Defender accuracy changes, vs Fighters a very very microscopic increase of .02 but vs corvettes doubled. and vs capital ships only a 15% chance to miss shots. Defenders still aren't recommended as a counter for corvettes even with this change.

-All Mines last longer on the battlefield.




Next I will be working on Tweaking Strike Craft for HW1 and Research.
