@Layndarat just ignore them, random posters like these don’t choose to investigate or read it before posting. Probably has not much appreciation for it.

@☭︎ягер Just so you know, IRAN and Iraq are different countries. Since you are already insulting the map I feel no need to explain the larger scenario to you. Happy gaming (if you can let yourself be happy) !

FOR IRAQ!

@Alibubba! G'day there, some custom tuning packs and win conditions have different affects to how the AI plays, or doesn't play. That can happen on any maps and is an issue modders have to contend with when trying to give us enjoyable alternatives to the vanilla game. If you are just playing the vanilla game (my sympathies) and the AI is having issues it is a fault I haven't seen occur on this map. Whatever it is, I hope you are able to figure it out and enjoy the map as intended.
Alibubba! 2 Oct, 2020 @ 4:00pm
I don't know if it's just me, but it feels like certain locations cause complications with pathing if played with AI, causing them to stagnate and not take any action
Defiant 18 Jan, 2020 @ 3:59pm
Am indeed, thanks for responding!
Layndarat  [author] 17 Jan, 2020 @ 7:50pm
G'day Defiant. The difference is that the lite version doesn't have weapons scattered all over creation for pickup, or team owned howitzers set for use. So the maps will play differently. The lite version was created to help with mods like Spearhead that don't cope with weapons being placed on map in the worldbuilder process. Hope you are enjoying it. :steamhappy:
Defiant 13 Jan, 2020 @ 6:10pm
what is the difference between the lite and standard version?

zoom sucks
Nootie the Cutie 8 Aug, 2019 @ 4:39am
Awesome! Love destroy bridges cause then AI will have a shit ton of time to waste while I set up defences. Thanks
Layndarat  [author] 8 Aug, 2019 @ 4:06am
@Tocon Noot Gaming You should be able to destroy just about anything on the map. I don't believe in those ridiculous indestructible groves where even a sturmtiger round can't hurt a single leaf
Nootie the Cutie 8 Aug, 2019 @ 3:06am
destructible bridges?
Layndarat  [author] 5 Aug, 2019 @ 12:31am
@Kuronoshi209 Yes, it is a biggish map. It needs to be to appreciate the size of the place and the scale of the conflict set there. These maps take a long time to do so I'm happy for sure that you love it mate, :steamhappy:
Kuronoshi209 4 Aug, 2019 @ 6:47am
Looking at the pics, I must say that it seems like a pretty big map.

Me L O V E !!! :steamhappy: Cheers!

@ashgabriel12345 Glad you're having fun mate. Feedback like yours is what makes us look for the time to open the world builder again. Cheers mate :steamhappy:
ashgabriel12345 9 May, 2019 @ 2:06pm
@Layndarat It's a great map! I played with each faction on it. It's great urban combat. I also like how the streets are wide enough for tanks to fight in. The airfield is good too.
Wiid 6 May, 2019 @ 10:16pm
I think the map looks great looking forward to playing it. I understand the limitations of the worldbuilder so I appreciate that you tried to make it regardless of those issues. This game needs more map variety badly. I'm hoping this summer I can get some time to learn the worldbuilder so I can make my Football Field map. Here's hoping you make some more epic maps.
Layndarat  [author] 6 May, 2019 @ 7:14pm
@ashgabriel12345 If you read my notes you will see I have acknowledged that creating Mosul is quite impossible due to the complete absence of mosques and flatter roof buildings without chimneys in the world builder set. That being said as far as I can for this game the map is representative of Mosul, being quite fertile and a little set back from each bank of the Tigris, having an airfield (as opposed to an airport) and for the purposes of our game, access to the pipeline. The intent is to try and create the flavour of the area as much as the world builder tools will permit. Cheers mate, hope you enjoy it.
Layndarat  [author] 6 May, 2019 @ 7:08pm
@Zakhar-FR the bridges have been redone mate, should all be repairable and able to be crossed. One of the last bridges I tried unsuccessfully was called 'Best bridge' but that appears not to be the case.
Layndarat  [author] 6 May, 2019 @ 7:05pm
@Brein Glad you like it mate. The 'lite' variant of the map will be worked on in the next few days given that the bridges should now be repairable without issue.
ashgabriel12345 6 May, 2019 @ 6:23pm
Not really Mosul, as much as the Caucasus. It looks very much like that area of the world towards Kazakhstan.
Eltharis 6 May, 2019 @ 5:16am
the bridges are bug when they are destroy and rebuilt. Tank are block on it
Brein 6 May, 2019 @ 1:32am
Great map. I like the density of this city for infantry and a way around the sides for the tanks. Driving with a truck in the streets is giving me flashbacks to blackhawk down. The middle east feel this map has is fantastic. That being said. I agree on the team weapons part and I too would like to see them being removed. Keep up the great work and I hope to see more from your work very soon.
Layndarat  [author] 5 May, 2019 @ 7:21am
@Zero. Just about finished tinkering. When I have I'll do that 'lite' variant. Cheers mate

When another player transfers units to you you can exceed the pop cap
And no, i've not seen this behaviour with any other map i've played and i've played a lot of maps

@Layndarat Pretty sure he was using the Cheats Tuning Pack.
Layndarat  [author] 3 May, 2019 @ 7:03pm
@National_Joke

That is surely one of the most bizarre images I have seen. And I ran out of fingers and toes to count all the T34s you had there, mate. What tuning pack were you playing? Have you ever seen it do that before?

I have repaired bridges and moved vehicles across. I will have a look at that again though. If I can get that kind of thing to happen I will change the bridges certainly.
Layndarat  [author] 3 May, 2019 @ 6:57pm
@Zero "They sure do love their team weapons"

Lol. So true. Makes the AI a little more or a challenge early. I don't mind AI games from time to time even though they are stupid. The goal of the game then is to see how many kills one can get against them.

For your concern, it isn't too difficult (just some time needed) to post a version of the map without factional weapons at all. I will get around to it soon (work and family commitments permitting) as if memory serves 'Spearhead' tuning pack has issues with map placed weapons and those guys that love it would probably enjoy this map.
Layndarat  [author] 3 May, 2019 @ 6:57pm
@[CSO]Cobble, 2 of 2

However, that you played to a stalemate after 2 hours suggests to me you fellas were enjoying yourselves too much, lol, and that there would have been plenty of scope during that time to try all manner of different tactics to break through. Surely in the 'superhero' vanilla experience of the game constructed artillery will fire across the river. That a mortar cannot reach the other side of a river suggests to me something seriously wrong with the game play and serves to remind me why realism mods make this game worth playing.

Please try some of the realistic mods and see how you go, recommending Battleground Europe or Kriegspiel as good ones.

Lastly, I will tinker with the map often. Look for alterations. Cheers mate
Layndarat  [author] 3 May, 2019 @ 6:46pm
@[CSO]Cobble, 1 of 2 I have added 4 howitzers to the map though their range will be far short of the river in the vanilla game experience.

The river can be made narrower which would mean the city would need to be moved or at least expanded on that side to equalise the gap once more, a fair amount of work. Narrowing both sides of the river would double to work required. Another way would be to split some bridges to small islands crossing the river and although I see no sign of that in Mosul images that would be my preferred option.

Anti 3 May, 2019 @ 4:55pm
After you've destroyed the bridges and repair them you are unable to move any vehicles across the bridges, If you repair the rail bridge the model gets replaced by a completely different type of bridge which is not even connected to the land

Would love to see the changes and to play this map again

First of all the maps you make are very impressive. They have a stripped-back feel which reminds me of a proper wargame, and their scope allows for a lot more tactical depth than the usual cramped shooting galleries.

But, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's said this, the pre-placed team weapons make these maps a nightmare to play with the AI. They sure do love their team weapons, and it is no fun to watch them pick up what you destroy, time and again, because they found it lying around for them outside their base.

On the other hand, having factional small arms is welcome. If you just got rid of the team weapons I'd be grateful. Please consider it for those who play against the AI.

PS: player 1 (USSR) have what look to be DP-28s lying around but they're listed as PPSh-41s. Haven't checked the others.
Cobble 3 May, 2019 @ 8:26am
Overall I am looking forward to see if you make changes to the map at all
Cobble 3 May, 2019 @ 8:25am
@layndarat played it last night there, just first opinions on it, I like the mix of urban and open terrain but perhaps more areas for infantry cover, like around the middle victory point or up to the most northern bridge, for the northern bridge maybe some basic trench lines? Also battles become locked very easily around the bridges and there seems to be difficulty to break these defensive lines, by this I mean me and my friends managed to grind it to a stalemate after 2 hours of play, maybe some sort of arty emplacements built in towns on both sides of the city to try break this up, it doesnt help that mortars cannot reach over the river, I am not adept with map making but how hard is it to make a river smaller after making the rest of the map, out of question that it?
retro 3 May, 2019 @ 12:54am
lol
Layndarat  [author] 3 May, 2019 @ 12:11am
@Where U at doe? , AirborneArtillery and Ol' Dreäddy I will certainly look at that bridge. Obviously that shouldn't happen even with the 'Marvel Avengers' infantry of the vanilla game.
Layndarat  [author] 3 May, 2019 @ 12:07am
@insectwhore Not sure what you mean there mate. There are 3 bridges for vehicles and 3 foot bridges, unlikely the vehicles can cross on the small ones. If it's the bigger bridges, I have moved and seen others move tanks over those...
Ol' Dreaddy 2 May, 2019 @ 11:25pm
That feel when not even a destroyed bridge can stop the infantry from getting across.
retro 2 May, 2019 @ 11:09pm
me and my friend desperately tried to fend off the infantry that were going through the BROKEN bridge but other than that its a 10/10
V 2 May, 2019 @ 7:36pm
the infantry can still walk on the railbridge even when its destroyed. plz fix that.
InsectWhore 2 May, 2019 @ 6:45pm
cant get the tanks thru the bridges...
jay stack 2 May, 2019 @ 10:51am
cool
Snog 2 May, 2019 @ 9:46am
Map looks gorgeous. I will have to give it a shot sometime.
Layndarat  [author] 2 May, 2019 @ 1:58am
@MilitaryTank thanks mate and you're welcome. Hopefully the map has something for everyone. Choke points with bridges, though there are several, large city areas for great infantry fights and the airfield, refinery and desert areas as better tank country.
Doctor Pingu 1 May, 2019 @ 11:55pm
Very proud and amazed you decided to make a map of my home country :D. I love how you separated the two major areas of the map with bridges and how you added what looks like an airfield. So overall 9/10.
