thanks for the update! From some time this mod feels really natural to have. Adds a lot of depth.

Would it be possible to add a patch for the combat extended turrets? it seems that the automatic patch doesn't catch them.

@Manul That's one way to look at it, components are so insanely diverse though it's not saying much. I'd personally have split them into mechanical and electronic variants if I were adding components. But even with that AI being separate lines up with all the other cores and is an interesting distinction. I think there's a big enough gap between an electronic micro controller or a variety of other chips, and a fully trained and configured AI system to warrant the distinction.

I argue classifier cores are included in industrial components, when you look at how components are described and how Classifiers are described

That's good to hear

@Flockerkill Not quite, if MBT is loaded, the scanners will use basic subcores and the patches from this mod will specifically not apply. MBT essentially takes priority.

So with both MBT and Classifier Cores loaded, you will use classifier cores to craft basic subcores but no longer require steel for them just 2 additional components. And then you use those basic cores in the scanners to make the more advanaced cores like you normally do in MBT.

so to be clear:
if i use this mod and mechanitor balance tweaks, do i need multiple classifier cores to make the higher subcores?
Whollyspokes 21 May, 2024 @ 5:23pm
this is a cool mod
but i also think the fact it took this long for someone to make this is a testament to how little of a shit people really give about tynans book, lol

That's great! I will gladly add this mod to my list then. I really love the idea.

cool small mod

great mod, thank you

@lloki I have released an update that includes the automatic patching, it should cover 90% of turret mods while also avoiding things like making manned turrets cost classier cores. And it should account for the mods you listed. As well as many others

@SAUCE__GODD Pretty much, alot of RW "Industrial" techs are ones that exist now or are more "near future" type stuff, although it's not always the case.
SAUCE__GODD 20 May, 2024 @ 2:31pm
So basically what we have right now in the year of our lord 2024?
lloki 20 May, 2024 @ 1:54pm
Haha, right :)

Well, mostly the turrets added by Vanilla Expanded team I think:
VFE Security https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1845154007
VFE Mechanoids https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2329011599/
VFE Deserters https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3025493377

Then there are bunkers from:
Fortifications - Industrial https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2561619583

And the really great mod, sadly not yet updated to 1.5 (but eventually it will be):
More Vanilla Turrets 1.1+ https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2009766414

A bit more niche, but still kinda cool:
Giant uranium slug turret https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3133170765

I you would need more details about these mods (I don't know, names of the particular turrets) - I will be happy to help :)

@The Blind One The Classifier core is more so meant to represent the existing IFF seen in RW turrets which is quite advanced all things considered, this mod should also work with other mods that tweak the friendly fire rates or other assorted stats of turrets.
hYPERION  [author] 20 May, 2024 @ 12:21pm
@lloki Well "main turret mods" is pretty vague as someone who generally avoids mods that add new turrets, however as I said in the description feel free to list ones you would like patched.

I'll maybe look into a more generic patch to add classifer cores to the crafting of turrets, however tweaking their drop rates is something that I'm hesitant to do so broadly.
lloki 20 May, 2024 @ 4:26am
Nice idea, but what about the compatibility with main "turret" mods? :) Is it automatic or would you need to patch each one separately? Without the compatibility I guess many people might not consider using your mod.
The Blind One 20 May, 2024 @ 3:02am
I like the idea of more expensive but more useful turrets. The only issue I still have with vanilla turrets is that they cause too much friendly fire. Perhaps with the classifier cores they shouldn't have the same issue considering it has a much more improved AI (I'm assuming).
