These are the same shell models but with technical improvements and less UV errors, plus LoD models.

The rifle shell is unused normally but still functional as a shell ejection and is used with some weapon reskins and packs, its been brought more in line with the retail shells.

I *believe* that is hardcoded behavior for them to poof away quickly.

Older versions of gmod 13 used to have the shells stay longer before being removed, then it was changed because of emitter exploits and performance.

Thats a viewmodel event thing, which would require recompiling the viewmodel with a additional shell ejection event for the double fire animation.

I have thought about like making my own edits to the HL2 guns though so maybe.

Actually in Source LoD models due to how they work actually add up the total polycount of a model even if those verts arent being rendered, this isnt too much of a issue, but it increases overall space the more complex a model is rapidly.

Are the LODs even necessary? The models appear to already have a pretty low amount of polygons, which might make the LODs hurt performance rather than helping.

Thats more of a issue with the HL:S worldmodels not being set up for that i think moreso than the shells themselves.
