and always take your time, no need to rush things. Total War games incl mods just gets better over time with less updates etc so don't rush things.

Hey guys, I am extremely busy these days however I do already have a mod released for game two. Although at this stage does not include a rename feature, I will be adding a rename to that mod however I will not be making multiple mods seperating out the changes as I do not have the time or will to make many versions and I personally like to compile my changes into a single file.

Fore warning the new name changes for game two will reflect the naming style of game two, for example "Grand Principality of Reikland" will simply be "Reikland". I will only be editting names I believe need changing to be brought in line with the more thematic style adopted by CA.

The new update will drop post Tomb Kings release to save me time. Sorry if this is not exactly what you hoped for but this is all I am able/willing to do at this time.

Mod as not been updated yet. Issues will occure if you continue to use it. I'll look at updating later today, I've been at work a lot recently and not had much time to make changes.

FOR SOME REASON your mod is breaking the sound in my game, whenever I press to end my turn I can't hear the new sound effects for Norsca, or any faction for that matter.. when you win battles you sound like a ORK. This is really annoying and has been putting me out of the game.

I had a few mods prior to the update. But I had to unsubscribe to all as the game was terribly broken, I had no sound effects when pressing a turn end, game was having several graphical glitches, had orkish sound effects when winning battles. Hard to point which mod was breaking it... Damn CA always break mods with updates.. It's magical.

They could be described as tribes, but for themselves they are chieftains, so chiefdoms are apt naming.

I had diplomancy mods that added perks, maybe it also broke confederations. Or just the Norscan changes, I bet they all eventually confederate if they are at war with one another.

Needless to say the historical comparisons are not accurate when dealing with warhammer fantasy as they mix and match cultures. As to the name suggestions you have given; Jarldom is not something I have ever heard of before even in relation to Viking cultures. Possibly due to Jarl relating to Earl/Chief. Chiefdom is fine in theory, but as I previously stated Tribe is how they are described in Lore. So I am yet undecided.

@Roque I am currently playing as Norsca and no other norsca faction has used the confederation option. Also from previous experience only the main faction of any race should use confederation. For example Clan Angrund AI will not form confederations, and I have played at least one of every campaign since creating my mods. Have they changed this with norsca? (Is it possible you have another mod which does this?) It'd be quite interesting, and would mean I'd have to remove the confederation name...not completely terrible but sleightly annoying as there is no way around this.

As per my comparison to Celts it links to the tribal structure of their society. Celts and Vikings both farmed and followed pagan religions. True enough the northern world is harder to farm but they did. Viking raiding culture was more about wealth and eventually settlement due to a desire to gain agricultural land.

Seeing as the confederations turn them into Kingdoms.. do you realize that there are quite a lot of "Kingdoms of Norsca"? because they are confederating quite a lot now with their new "confederation system", my last pl I had 3 Kingdoms of Norsca. I realize there isn't much you can do, but perhaps they need to be removed from the renames list, that said. You could go with Chiefdom, Jarldoms. I don't know how they are related to Celts, for me they're quite Northmen, slave-driven economy, raiding to survive. Celts worked the land, honored the gods, unless thats the part you're comparing them with Celts, their way to "honor the gods"? yeah... probably that.

@Roque in warhammer Lore they are described as Tribes. As to Viking naming conventions I believe they are actually seperated into various (comparatively) small kingdoms with Jarls ruling over lands beneath them. The term viking really discribes a culture of many kingdoms spread across what is now modern Norway, Denmark, Sweden and even northern Germany.

So if I was to take historical cues then they should be kingdoms. But Lore states they are tribes. Norsca seems to me socially structured more like Celtic tribes with a viking militaristic and explorational flare.

As it stands I'm open to opinions.

I don't think they are "tribes" as much they are Nordic Vikings, they have Jarls, Chieftains and such. How were Viking nations called? Chiefdom of Varg, Chiefdom of Sarl?

@Rogue having just started with the new norscan factions I have to say I believe the names for the new factions are quite immersive as they stand. I am of course going to rename the "norsca" faction (Wulfrik's). Currently I have a version where I have made that Faction the Sarls tribe as this in Lore is where Wulfrik came from if i remember correctly. However i don't believe he was the chieftain so i may look at some alternatives.

Has anyone played the new Chaos campaign? Is awakening tribes still in there? If so then i'll have to change it because Sarls is a tribe you awaken and then there would be two which would just bug me.

Really enjoy the mod, it's great to have this immersive factor. I don't want to nitpick, but thought I should let you know of a couple typos I found so you can fix them when you get a chance. First is that Grimgor's Boyz are missing the first "r". Second is a small error in the spelling of "Insurgents" for the Wood Elf rebels. Again, it's a fantastic mod - definitely the best naming mod out there!

@Gameshian Thanks for the comment. I have not tested this myself yet hence why I have not stated so in the description. I also was unaware of other mods having issues due to obviously using my own. I'll update the description soon as I also intend to link my other mods for easy reference.

Hi, TheSilverLion. This mod is a great mod for loreful immersive maniacs like I am. : ) Also you should add to the description that your mod is the only one that affects factions names and works with Grand Campaign Custom Maps just fine. It didn't work with most mods like yours. Well done!

Why does this mod need factions_tables table? The text files override any "screen name" and other similar changes made in factions_tables anyway, don't they? It makes the mod much less compatible with other mods such as faction recolours etc.
On the topic of faction names, i find "Von Carstein Ascendancy" to be just about the most obnoxious name for a faction i've ever seen. I have no idea why you'd want to rename the Vampires anyway. I'd just change the Von Carstein faction to Von Carstein Dynasty and keep Vampire Counts as they are. Or maybe rename Vampire Counts to Sylvania or name Vampire Confederation to Sylvania. Eternal Empire is fine too i suppose.
And don't even get me started on the whole 'Ardboyz Tribe thing.
Overall, good mod! Fortunately it is very easy for everyone to make few edits and change couple names they don't like. I just wish it didnt take 20 minutes to go through the factions.loc to find where the damn Greenskins name is located.

@Aléxandros NooƄos I originally went for Kingdom as this is normally how i have seen it referenced. Though with its ruler being a Tsar it would make more sense. I'm definately open to this idea.

@Roque This is true about Angrund. Like I said it does happen not much I can do about it at this time. I have not found this to be a problem specifically. I should also add I actaully have a mod installed which nerfs AI from gaining bonuses to conferation chances. This could be why I have not seen this as much.

The most problematic situation on this is the Dwarves, Clan Angrund would also take The Karaz Ankor, no? and Clan Durazklad is power angry AF, the highking will eat almost any weak dwarven faction, unfortunately, I lack the proper modding knowledge to create a banner mod using your mod as a template, but it's awesome you're sanctioning modders to use your mod as a foundation, it has incredible potential

@Roque Yes the confederations will all take the same name. Sadly I'm not sure if I can actually change that. Although I don't often see this happen but I may just get lucky, when it has happened I tend to view that as an excuse to just take them over as if they are setting themselves up as a rival (roleplaying a bit). I am looking into it however with a view to possibly creating unique confederation names.

If there are a few people that feel the "The" needs removing then I can for sure.

If you want to create a banners mod that could work alongside this one I would be quite interested to see this. I personally am not that interested in creating one as I don't have the time to maintain many mods. I currently only have the two and will endeavour to keep them updated with each patch/requests.

I was actually talking about the possibility of such a mod with mod author "@Supence", seems you beat us to it, the only thing I think your mod needs is banners, but if possible you should keep this unchanged version and added a new banner version if that's what you want of course. great work though, maybe remove the "THE", from the confederations renames? it's kinda annoying reading diplomacy settings including it, that said. With the increased numbers of Breton Dukedoms, will every confederator be named "Kingdom of Bretonnia"? AI tends to go mad with confederations

I'm afraid another mod which alters names will not be compatible as they alter the same tables. As to banners themselves? Well I would think a mod that only alters banners would be fine.
