FAQ
⚠️Frequently asked questions by users of the Vehicle Framework version of this mod.

How do I add interiors to other vehicles?
Go to mod settings and find a tab called "Vehicle Interior Framework". Add all the vehicles you want to have interiors in there, and choose their sizes.

I can't make interiors smaller than 7x7?
This is a technical limitation. I recommend lining the walls of your 7x7 interior with more walls, until the desired interior size is achieved.

What do I need to research to build RVs?
To build RVs, research "RVs" under the "Main" category.

If you have Vanilla Vehicles Expanded installed as well, research "Complex Vehicles" instead, under the "Vehicles" category.

How to move the vehicle on the world map, like a caravan?
Click on your colony icon on the world map, and press "Form vehicle caravan" while having your passenger pawns inside the vehicle interior, and at least one pawn outside the vehicle interior to drive it.

How to schedule entrance and exit times for select pawns?
Enable the Schedule Enter toggle, click on the Schedule Time button until a satisfactory time is selected, then press the Schedule Pawns button to select the pawns who will listen to this scheduling.

Will raiders attack the vehicle?
It depends. I've seen raiders ignore a stationary vehicle, but when moving the vehicle around they might start attacking it.

What happens if a vehicle with an interior is destroyed?
All contents are lost, pawns may or may not make it out.

What are the differences between "Movable RV w/ Interior" & "RV with built-in PD"?
The differences between this mod and RV with built-in PD are small, thanks to the collaboration with its creator, @Furia.

In short, this mod generally gives you a more polished and more immersive experience, in my opinion.

Here's exactly how this mod differs to the other one:
  • This mod's RV's have a smaller, more realistic, interior size by default, though the interior can be made bigger using the mod's settings, if you wish.
  • This mod's RV texture, which is somewhat of a scrappy hybrid of a truck & RV, looks less luxury and more utilitarian, as survivors on the rim generally don't have access to luxuries.
  • This mod's RV texture matches the artstyle of Rimworld better, as it's created in Photoshop like the original Rimworld art, instead of a 3D software.
  • This mod has a built-in vehicle interior manager, allowing you to add interiors to any vehicle you like.
  • This mod has an 'RV Nomads' starting scenario, to instantly start with an RV.
  • This mod doesn't create a new research tab for a single research project, and instead integrates into the vanilla research map.
  • This mod doesn't include portals, in order to reduce bloat. If you do want portals however, you're able to install SimplePortal on top of this mod.
  • This mod is more stable, as new features introduced by the other mod are put through extensive bug & quality testing before being merged into this one.
  • This mod takes up less entries in your mod list, due to the merging of the dependencies & add-ons.
  • This mod works with all RV add-ons, past & future, even ones dependent on the other mod, thanks to the Global Movable RV Compatibility Patch.
  • This mod has support below V1.5 Rimworld, due to the alternative Pocket Dimension integration.
  • This mod has better English grammar.
  • This mod has active support.

My vehicle is unable to move, despite having a driver, an enabled engine, and full gas tank!
This is a Vehicle Framework bug, but it's easily solvable. Sometimes a vehicle might be unable to move, especially after travelling into a new map. It might say something like "unable to pathfind". In this case the "vehicle regions" have somehow broken. Saving and reloading the game will regenerate the vehicle regions, which will fix the issue.

I travelled to/I created a new map with a vehicle caravan, and the entire map is fogged!
This is a Vehicle Framework bug, but it's easily solvable. Simply get someone to drive the vehicle, and then make them exit the vehicle. This will de-fog the map.
