Troubled Waters: A Starbound Overhaul

Troubled Waters is a modpack that aims to transform Starbound from a happy, lighthearted universe, into a gritty, dark, hardcore one. The player will no longer be a super hero with god-like powers. From the start, you will feel like a weak and helpless character who really has to start from nothing after fleeing Earth. There are an immense amount of things this modpack changes to the game, and in addition to all the mods I've included in this modpack, my basemod "Troubled Waters" also adds and changes many things in order to overhaul the game.




Update V.2 reworks Troubled Waters adding depth to mid-game and overhauling end-game. Two new planets - Hellish and Divine - now act as the gateway to endgame, containing the materials to create the magicians workbench and access late game content. US.E has its own mini storyline as well, but is left optional as it is dated and untested.

- Skys outpost replaced by Amons
- increased inventory slots to 15 from 10
- Increased jump height to ~80% (from ~50%)
- Restored default starting 100hp (from 80)
- Low Tier Ingot Pixel Cost Reduced by ~40%
- Re-balanced mid to late game progression
- Polished the interplay between large mods, they now flow together more seamless
- With the addion of Quickbar and Mystic Mirror, which now spawns in the ship locker, it is now possible to have a home planet or home pocket dimension instead of being locked to living in your ship
- Many construction blocks made to require pixels instead of resources to make base building less tedious.
- Many many bugfixes
- Loads and loads of new content from stars, to planets, to enemies, to armor, weapons, and bosses.

You must unsub from ALL your current mods and then resub to updated modpack list on the collection page. This is because some mods were taken out and replaced, so if you are still subbed to the previous mods there will be conflicts or crashes.

• Outpost Overhauled with Amons Outpost and Troubled Waters. Music replaced and it now feels like a center where people in need travel too.
  
• It now requires pixels and more ingredients to craft ingots and a few other items.
  
• Interaction range reduced to 3.5 blocks
  
• Adjusted dungeon spawn rates to make them slightly lower underground
  
• It requires many more Manipulator Modules to upgrade your MM - 25, 50, 100
  
• Music does not play at night anymore
  
• Big changes to star-system generation. Stars and their planets are more "random" but more realistic.
  
• Racial stats and abilities
  
• No more random-gen weapons, any ones you do find will likely be very weak. You must craft your weapons now.
  
• Many new planet types and space encounters.
  
• Replaced many vanilla SFX with less cartoony ones.
  
• Rebalanced items and mech parts added from various mods.
  
• New parallaxes and altered old ones.
  
• Players can now choose classes to specialize in.
  
• New temperature system. Campfires keep you warm and water can cool you down in extreme climates.
  
• Added much more late game content.
  
• Many enemies have elemental weaknesses and strengths. Your choice of weapon matters.
  
• Rope will be your best friend. Also added spelunking hook recipe that is almost an essential due to your reduced mobility.
  
• You lose 20% of your pixels when you die.
  
• Each race has unique strengths and weaknesses with certain weapon types and have a different playstyle from each other.

• In the hand crafting menu, "C", craft a mysterious book as soon as you can. This is how you will select a class and start the rpg elements of the modpack.
  
• Also in hand crafting, craft a spelunking hook as soon as you're able (Infinity Xpress sells a flashlight). Until then carry rope with you at all times, you will need it.
  
• Keep valuable items you find while exploring to sell later. You'll want all the money you get for crafting.
  
• It also wouldn't hurt to expand your ship as you progress as you will need space to expand your science stations and storage room.
  
• A pixel compressor will be extremely convenient later on, saving you lots and lots of pixels.
  
• When in doubt, save things you're unsure of. Some things you might find early game that you think have no use may be extremely useful in late game
  
• Play with friends to die less.

Overall the game has been drastically slowed down. You won't be able to beat it in 30 minutes. What you used to be able to do in 5 minutes can now take up to half an hour. This overhaul will make the game harder, but also more rewarding, and you will actually feel like you are surviving in a brutal universe.
