Description
KMI Kelpie Class Destroyer

Length: 57 Blocks, 142.5 Meters.
Size: 4,423 Blocks. 52,333 PCU.
Dry Tonnage: 4,253 Tons.

This ship is vanilla and survival ready. It does use DLC blocks for aesthetic improvements, but those blocks are entirely or almost entirely not structurally necessary. If you do encounter a major issue, please, let me know so I can resolve it.

Knightmare Industries presents the Kelpie Class Destroyer, one of its latest generation of warships. Designed to be the fleet's primary muscle in the high atmosphere, the Kelpie is a powerful and dangerous adversary. Like its smaller companion the Griffin, high priority has been given to flight endurance and forward armament. With the increased available volume of a destroyer, the Kelpie retains many of KMI's standard features. The ship is named after the mythological Kelpie, which would draw people to the water and drown them, much like this ship would draw less capable vessels into gravity wells where there is no escape.

The primary propulsion is Hydrogen, with Ion Thruster backups. There are 5 large Hydrogen Thrusters with 6 Hydrogen tanks for fuel storage. There are 2 Jump Drives for long distance, deep space missions. The ship is armed with 16 Gatling Turrets, 4 Missile Turrets, 17 Interior Turrets, 24 forward facing Rocket Launchers, and 8 forward facing Gatling Guns attached by rotor mount. Power is supplied by a large reactor with several small reactors and batteries as backups. The ship is mostly light armor, with substantial heavy armor at the front and reinforced armor around critical components. The design is equipped with refineries and assemblers for self repair and long missions, as well as a small hangar for utility ships and drones.

The ship is built fully vanilla and survival ready, with an interior in the style of "The Expanse." If you want to remove the rotor based gatling guns, I recommend putting a protected camera there instead. I also used a light changing script to switch around the interior light settings. Its an older script and I couldn't find the original creator. The script was updated by ColTeH for my use. There are also a few other program and timer blocks if you need them. You may have noticed, but the ship uses DLC blocks.

Please feel free to modify the ship to fit your in game needs. Just be sure to give credit to the original creator.

Author's Notes
Alright, here's number two. Bit of an odd shape, this one, but in a weird way I like it. This was the second ship of the group and I think it turned out pretty well. The thrusters at the back were interesting, as I've never done a staggered design with recessed large thrusters before. The forward weaponry is also a bit of a step away from convention for me, with unprotected rocket launchers spaced around the front of the hull. I guess that's not too abnormal for most. Destroyers (or whatever you want to call this) are probably my favorite size/type of ship. Everything I need can fit in it, a solid interior, plenty of weapons, and not too bad on the block count. You may have also noticed the description of this ship is a bit copied over. There's a fair few things that are the same about the ships, and it saves me some time so that I can get onto the next one. Anyways, glad to have it out, and I hope you enjoy the ship!

If you have any questions or comments about the ship, please leave them in the comments below. Thank you for browsing this item. Safe Voyages! Papple.

Should be... there are so many ship designs being put forward in the faction that the likelihood of even one of mine being built is quite small.

Ah the Outlands. I just might have to check that series out, some of the ships in it are quite the lookers. Should be cool to see what you put forward!

@silver.talon Thanks. Interesting choice of modification. As for new KDI ships, I should revisit them. I've been busy building for a series called Outlands, which I highly recommend checking out. There are build rules/restrictions which I quite like, as they allow me to make effective designs without sacrificing much aesthetically. As these ships are made for factions that are at war, they're not meant to be shared just yet, which is killing me, lol. Trying to figure out the best way to get around that issue, short of heavily modifying the designs back to my usual.

Hey Papple, your great fan is back. Hey I retrofitted this favorite of olden days into a stealth recon destroyer, modded of course. I thank you for occasionally jumping back to your older builds to "freshen" them up with dlc's and little tweaks. Still wondering when you'll get a new KDI destroyer off the line with the new warfare packs. I'm stoked to see what it will do. Also a larger more robust industrial freighter would be cool, like "Remember the Cant"!

I love the KMI-Lineup. Very distinctive compared to most designs and they handle great! Definitely deserves more ratings.

Aight, thanks for the help.

You would need to find the blueprints folder and the blueprint in question, and replace it there. I use the nvidia alt-f2 thingie (the technical term for it) to do the screenshots, which isn't available on all computers. And as that produces some large file sizes (usually too large for steam), I use a website that reduces the file size to a usable size.
