Adjustable Shields

Description
What is this?
This mod adds new shields with colours and angles to the game.
These are mostly for cosmetics and share the same stats as their base game counterparts.

They have blueprints that cost 0 and are unlocked when you purchase the base item.

These shields are of a neutral grey in-ship colour with coloured glows/highlights and feature an emitted shield colour to match the glows. The shields should die out to a grey/white colour, getting fainter as they go. The shields can now also be angled as well as coloured.
(The standard shields have a purple in-ship look but a deep-rich-blue emitted shield, that dies to a red colour. They are not touched by this mod)

The Small shield is the most flexible design. It allows colour variations, angle changing and even has both curved and flat shapes.

The mod adds an entire new Medium shield tier. The Medium shield is a hybrid forcing the power output of a small generator through a large emitter. It is the least flexible design and can only be re-coloured and not re-angled. It does however project it's stronger shield through the ship (can be placed internally).

The Large is not very flexible and can only have forward or side arc-angles with colour variations.

ToDo
  • Consider adding other common shields, like;
    - 360deg Bubbles,
    - "Interior" larger shield,
  • These would possibly also be 'add-on' mods

For other similar mods you might like (not made by myself), that were my inspiration behind doing these;
Painted Prisms
Modular Lasers
Modular Beam Turrets

See also:
Modular Shields - also includes colours AND angles AND visibility AND bubbles. Honestly in my opinion, it is the better mod. BUT this one existed first and both mods allow you to decide on a level of adjustable shield designs that you feel comfortable using in your own game :)

... and now Adjustable Ions And Prisms , made by me exist too!
... and now Adjustable Fighters made by me exist too!

Someone with a cool name 天月将白 made a Tiered-Parts version too!! I feel blessed ...

Thankyou
Huge thanks to Swefpifh for the angle images and working with me to fix multi-toggles on one component!

~ Enjoy !! and please buy me a Cuppa Tea[www.buymeacoffee.com]

"redundant" was not the most fitting word indeed.

@Updates, i do not know at all how the steam workshop works,
but from what i heard, it is worse than youtube.
( I do not know how youtube works either,
but apparently you cannot _just_ rename or update some video )
And as we all know, on steam, NOT EVEN the message boards work properly.
Itz bad all around.

"it's how they need to be setup.. "
- Programming adheres to a strict syntax, so that was not a jab at you.

There's nothing redundant in the files, it's how they need to be setup to have multiple orientations. edge new direction+colour is a different combination of components being turned on and off.

The colours might be a little bit redundant with the "newer" UIColourWheelToggle, but I never figured out how to use it, and this mod is "working", so I don't want to break it trying to update/fix it, if that makes sense.

And yes there is lore/design reasons:
- small shields = low power, easily manipulated in both direction and arc shape
- medium shields = large shield power blasted through a small shield emitter. It is taking every bit of control to just get that to happen and project through the ship without ripping up the ship
- large shield = high power, not easy to adjust direction/arc shape

Also: i had a look at the files...
I think i need a few time units to add the missing functions,
it is all VERY "redundant" seemingly.

At the risk of sounding accusative...
Why are the shield-options different?
Is there a Lore background for that?
RustyDios  [author] 30 Jun @ 8:03pm
Yes this is correct. I've adjusted the description to detail what can be done.

Greetings,
is it normal that the three versions do NOT share the same features?

It seems that ONLY with the small shield i have ALL options.

The medium shield can ONLY change colour not shape
and the large shield lacks the flat arcs.

Cool new Medium Shields!

Just built one myself fine in the 0.27.0 update... ensure you still have the required prerequisite mod enabled?

Red- No one really cares. You make good MODs. Just keep making them. If I want to play what you made, decide to edit it or add it to other MODs to play a game... Im going to do that.

Ill say it once again... I love what modders do. But stop crying!. You take someone else's original work and edit it. But If some one takes what you have done... and edits that... we have to leave credit to your name? How about you leave credit to all the people that contributed to the source material that you took. You don't. Because legally you don't have to. So again RustyDios- STFU
