Description
Total overhaul of AoW3 built around Der Mentat's Empire Building Mod (EBM). This is my personal tried and tested mod list that I have curated over the few years I've been playing the game. I've decided to clean it up and make it public for anyone taking an interest in the series following the release of AoW4 or returning players looking for a close-to-vanilla "how I remember it" mod list.

All items:
  • Complement the design of EBM and vanilla.
  • Maintain a consistent power level and standard of quality.
  • Are tested and confirmed compatible with no loss of stability or performance.
  • Don't detract from or overshadow vanilla mechanics and feel.


Features
  • Overhauled hero levelling adding new spells, skills, and upgrade paths - heroes feel and play more like unique characters.
  • Adds over 140 new heroes for you to recruit - all converted to the new levelling system and balanced accordingly.
  • New building chains with mutually exclusive paths - more ways to decide how you grow and specialise your cities.
  • Mystical city upgrades for almost every structure in the game - where you settle your cities is now more important than ever.
  • New racial units including more tier 4 units - devise new tactics and field more diverse armies (without losing your unique faction identity)
  • Better strategic maps - discover new structures, climates, and decorations that breath new life into random maps.
  • Better tactical maps - battle on nearby landmarks and face-off against new treasure guardians.
  • Plus a whole bunch of bug fixes, quality of life improvements, cosmetic upgrades and more.


Notes
  • Requires Golden Realms and Eternal Lords.
  • All visual and audio items are optional.
  • Resource Conversion Spells has been added because it is a prerequisite to Defensive Structures (for some reason). It is not used by the AI and can be ignored by the player so the impact is minimal. If you choose to engage with it, it allows some economy fine-tuning via a free spell.
  • Decodence RMG Integration has a known issue: The frequency for the new terrain climates can't be changed in map generation settings and are always set to max. To prevent a disproportionate amount of these themes appearing, put all other climate sliders to full (arctic, tropical, volcanic, blighted, temperate).
  • Remove Disjunction completely removes strategic disjunction from player and AI spellbooks which makes it a controversial inclusion on this list. This is mainly an AI fix to prevent them from spamming disjunction and wasting all their mana and casting points. It also adds an interesting dynamic to lategame strategic spells as they can only be disrupted by attacking a player's economy (or defeating them), which makes them much more of an appropriately serious threat for their cost. However, it is a big change from vanilla and the strategic disjuction UI is still present despite being unusable (which breaks the rules for this list). I think the pros greatly outweigh the cons though and I'd recommend everyone give it a try so I've decided to keep it in the collection.


Installation Instructions
I recommend a clean install before playing this collection.
  1. Favourite all items you are currently subscribed to and would like to easily find again later.
  2. Unsubscribe from all currently subscribed items.
  3. Delete contents of mod folder. Default path:
    C:/Users/*Username*/Documents/My Games/AoW3/UserContent
  4. Subscribe to all items in this collection.
  5. Unsubscribe from any unwanted visual or audio items.
  6. Run the AoW3 launcher > User Content > Update. This step may take a few minutes to complete.
  7. Play and enjoy!
