Brother against Brother, what a tragedy...

Welcome to Bruderkrieg, an alternative history scenario that asks the question: What if Hitler didn't "peacefully" rise to power?

In 1933 German general Eugen Ott (adjutant of General Kurt von Schleicher, then Chancellor of Germany) was playing wargames to ask if the German Army could disarm the radical militias of the Far-Left and the Far-Right. He determines that that would not be possible without causing a civil war.

The result of these wargames convinced Schleicher to appease the Nazis and the Communists. And to use the Strasser brothers to break up the NSDAP from within.

But what if Schleicher wasn't convinced that the army wasn't strong enough to disarm the paramilitaries, or he simply didn't see another solution for the extremist paramilitaries.

Bruderkrieg is the scenario set in 1933 that sees Schleicher tries to disarm the extremist paramilitaries of the Far-left and Far-Right and fails, throwing the Weimar Republic into a civil war.


Factions of the German Civil War:

Reichswehr (Reich Defense): Is the official German army of the Weimar Republic (Altroigh the official name for the Weimar Republic would still be the German Reich). It was a small but very professional and well-trained army, but with the start of the German Civil War, it received a lot of volunteers, and even some foreign volunteers.

The Reichswehr also have some Militias on their side, like the: Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold or the Iron Front.

Because of the Treaty of Versailles, its weapons are largely outdated, but with the start of the civil war, the government started mass buying every weapon it could get from foreign countries.

Volkssturm (People's Storm): This is a collection of Far-Right militias controlled by Adolf Hitler and led by Ernst Rohm.

The biggest of these militias is the Sturmabteilung (Storm Detachment, aka Brownshirts), the Schutzstaffel (Protection Squadron), and also non-nazi Far-Right militias like the Der Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten (The Steel Helmet, League of Front-Line Soldiers) and Kampfstaffeln (Battle Squadrons).

They also have groups of deserted soldiers on their side.

Most of their weapons come from WW1 era stockpiles, but they also got support from Musolini's Italy

Roter Frontkämpferbund (Alliance of Red Front-Fighters or Red Front Fighters' League, shortens as RFB): This is a collection of Far-Left Marxist-Leninist militias controlled and led by Ernst Thälmann.

The RFB consists of Militia men (From various militias), deserted soldiers, and foreign volunteers.

Most of their weapons are from WW1 era stockpiles, but they also got support from the Soviet Union.
