Reasonably Weaker Lords & Heroes

Description
Update:
-Halved Recruitment and upkeep costs to match the halved efficiency.
-Lords/Heroes will now share damage if surrounded by friendly units instead of absorbing all of it, so fighting together is way more efficient.

If you have Deadly Attack Dynamics use this version.

Fantasy is cool but it needs to be logical for it to be fun. No man with a weapon could take on entire armies, even Aragorn had to retreat at Amon Hen.

Thus, all foot and horse mounted lords and heroes HP and melee damage are halved, so they still play a significant role but cannot win against units on their own.

This change excludes monster mounts, which makes the hero use the monster HP and melee damage stats. This makes any mount much more meaningful, and especially monster ones which gives the lord/hero a major advantage over other lords and a bigger surviving chance.

More Mounts mod is required for gameplay balance and compatibility issues (otherwise another version had to be made).

For more of a challenge and meaning check Remove Immortality and More Mortal Legendary Lords.

Another option is RPG Skill which overhauls heroes skills, or Less Skills which reduces the overall skill points acquirable.

My other mods:

Deadly Attack Dynamics
Deadlier Attack Dynamics
Realistic Models Alignment
Agile models
Consistent Fatigue
Deadlier Engagement Dynamics
Cohesive Armies
Immersive Camera

Any comment/insight/request/bug is HIGHLY appreciated and welcome.

Hello, no, I don't own WH3, and most of these edit specific unit stats in a specific way so porting isn't possible as the calculations are local. Deadlier Engagement Dynamics was ported but without the recent updates.

ah that's a great solution!

Bro that's a brilliant suggestion! Thank you so much. I removed the "high threat" index in the main units table, so lords/heroes surrounded by friendly units will now share the damage with them instead of absorbing all the damage dealt in the splash area, giving them way more durability if "embedded" in the friendly units without reducing the damage potential of the enemy.

in the original tabletop, characters were much weaker than in this game, BUT they couldn't be specifically targeted except in melee, and even then only when in base to base contact, as long as they were 'in' or 'leading' a unit. there was also a rule that gave similar protection for being within 6" of a unit

I like the concept here however, maybe consider the following if possible?

If a character is within close range of a friendly unit (excluding single entity creatures at least), they gain a 50% damage reduction buff (essentially returning them to their original durability, but only when used sensibly...)

This would still allow character on character assassinations, seeking them out within units as the units collide, but stops characters being able to go rambo...

the massive problem with this of course is the AI doesn't know any better and their lords and heroes will die very quickly, which is probably why CA chose this lazy option in the first place...

Totally bro, numbers and units types have to be much more meaningful. In my other mod "Cohesive Armies" I removed the penalty for recently dead lord, since news aren't instantaneous amidst the fighting, while having the moral calculation done upon casualties rather than HP, so single entities and small elite unit types potentially hold for longer.

Fantasy can still be logical even if it's not in our world, there's a distinction between something being logical, which is the potential possibility of existence in all possible worlds, mainly by not being a contradiction, and nomological, possibility of existence in this world.

Dragons and zombies are not nomological, but are logical, since they aint a contradictiion, (given zombies are not dead and alive at the same time but are only reanimated). A dragon flying without wings or something else to explain it is not logical for example.

I like realism and believable scenarios along with fantasy, but to each his own.

good idea ... but I fail to see your Logic .... then a Zombie will be easy to kill a army too ... becouse how you kill something thats dead to start with ... a lord and Hero can take on a full army even in the table top game ... jsut like Superman can take on a army himself or Hulk are green ... if you like a game with Lord and Heros logic HP look at other games then "fantasy" games .. but GL on it !

Well since Dwarves have high armour they might survive a bit longer, but you're right, I wanted to combine this with another dwarf bodyguard mod but I understood it's a bit broken. check "double armour for all" for even higher armour based survivablity,
