Thanks for the answer, I'll give it a go and see what happens.

Hmm, probably not, but you could try it and see how it plays together.

The only way you would know is by playing without the other mods. There could be some conflicts. All I know is, when I play RotS on highest difficulty, using this mod, it is tough as hell.

Tried a campaign as Sendai and triggered Realm Divide once every provinces East of Kyoto were made shogunal. My allies which were shielded by me still managed to do extremely bad and lost their provinces to naval invasions from Saga.

From the AI's perspective it was like "I have 3 provinces to take care of while being surrounded by allies everywhere and I managed to loose them to naval invasions from clans coming from the other side of the map".

Now I don't know if the mod was working correctly. I had several mods running and some of them were not working.

Hello, I really enjoy your mod, i found an issue witht he ikko ikki AI, I'm not entirely sure if it's because of this mod, but this is the only mod that alters gameplay mechanics for me, the rest are graphic. So what happens is that Ikko ikki will keep spamming clan specialty bow ronnin, having full stacks of them combined with 2-3 bow ashigaru

The difficulty is insane and it perfectly matches with allies diplomacy mod. Great work!

ai hire more samurais?

@Volcano

Thanks for the advice- I really ought to look at rots but for now I'm focused on FOTS. It's a shame there's no way to balance that ought- I've determined that the only way to ensure a true legendary difficulty for FOTS as the shogunate is if the Tsu clan lives (otherwise the centre goes to the shogun). I imagine it's Yodo for the imperial clans, but they do flip
Volcano  [author] 5 Feb, 2024 @ 10:02am
No, unfortunately not. The AI uses all the same rules, regardless of faction. So if it is some Shogunate factions doing well, it would be because they happen to be more powerful (the RotS campaign is not necessarily balanced very well).

You could try the version of this mod that slows down tech research rates, which might suppress a lot of it early on:

...or just try turning the difficulty down. Certainly, if I recall, playing the Aizu in ROTS is one of the most difficult factions to win with, though.
Algy 3 Feb, 2024 @ 6:59am
Tried a campaign as Aizu with your mod, some fluff mods, and that's it:

By turn 20 or so there were 50 shogunal provinces. Is there any way to make the enemy side harder or more guaranteed to win out against friendly ai's?
Volcano  [author] 27 Jan, 2024 @ 4:26pm
OK, yeah, maybe restart some campaigns with different mods on an play a few turns in and see if you notice a difference.
Algy 27 Jan, 2024 @ 2:38am
@Volcano

It seems like that's the most likely option. Really I'm just looking for the most difficult campaign possible without having to go Republic. Fots just really seems to fall off in the end game, which is where it should be the most fun
Volcano  [author] 23 Jan, 2024 @ 9:24am
Hmm, don't see how that would happen either. Certainly this mod doesn't change anything in regards to diplomacy. Maybe another mod is doing that, or it could just be that you have lots of mods installed, and they aren't playing nice with each other.
Algy 23 Jan, 2024 @ 9:00am
@Volcano

I disabled the 1 turn research mod, and now by turn 20 most of Japan is against me. I don't know how the heck that happens though..

As a modder, do you have any idea? Could it be somehow interacting with an ai script regarding tech development being a trigger for one side or another doing better? It's just so strange
Volcano  [author] 22 Jan, 2024 @ 2:46pm
@Algy
This mod helps the AI be more decisive, but I don't think it would cause a faction to get 50+ territories in 20 turns. I don't even see how that would be possible.
Algy 21 Jan, 2024 @ 12:17pm
Hey there! Thanks for the mod- I keep having legendary campaigns where my side wins by turn 20 without me. Would your mod help with that?

For instance, 20 turns into a jozai campaign and the shogun has 53 territories. It just isn't right..
PinguSpectre 21 Apr, 2023 @ 6:58am
I put the UAI below the Strategic AI mod, the game works just fine but I can't really tell whether AI's behavior is improved.
Volcano  [author] 21 Apr, 2023 @ 6:54am
If you put this mod below that one in the loading order, then it should probably be fine.
PinguSpectre 21 Apr, 2023 @ 6:52am
Does this mode work with UAI(Universal AI mod) for FOTS? I wonder if the priorities set for AI by these mods conflict each other.
Volcano  [author] 25 Jan, 2023 @ 3:13pm
It should, I didn't adjust anything with diplomacy. But of course it depends on what else was changed in it, but it should be fine I think. All you can really do is try it out and see.

Volcano  [author] 24 Jan, 2023 @ 11:22pm
It should address some of that, but not all. There is so much that can be done in the old Shogun 2 engine (I wish they would remake it in a similar way to Three Kingdoms). So I guess the answer is yes and no. :steamfacepalm:

@Volcano

Hi there, does your mod fix AI cheating?
For instance, as it says here:

Volcano  [author] 22 Nov, 2021 @ 3:21pm
Yes, the mod will work in multiplayer, as long as you are your friend both have it.
Sternmann 22 Nov, 2021 @ 10:06am
I've been looking for a mod for a while that tweaks the AI so that there is more variety in the armies you fight (instead of mostly spearman ashigeru and swarms of bowmen) and this sounds like it could work! I'd like to use it in local coop too - will it work on multiplayer?
Bouridacsos 8 Nov, 2021 @ 12:53pm
On 46 clan playable mod :

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2423608656

Strategic AI interacts with this mod , for example Jimbo or Hatano get the ''other'' basic income reduced from 800 to 300 on Hard , making very hard to counter elimination.

I'm leaving this here so people should know . I will leave a reply on the other mod also .
Volcano  [author] 4 Nov, 2021 @ 2:01pm
Yes, it works in FOTS. It seems that in FOTS the line infantry are considered melee as far as I can tell.
John 4 Nov, 2021 @ 8:28am
this mod works well with FOTS? I ask because you say that the AI will recruit less bow and more melee, but in FOTS a mostly line infantry army is the meta
Volcano  [author] 30 Jul, 2021 @ 3:41pm
@brenzai301, I missed your comment previously. There isn't a very easy way to tell, but after some turns you should notice that the AI builds any new armies at a much better ratio of melee to missile units, and this is probably the best way to "see it". The other changes are subtle, and affect how the AI builds and prioritizes its objectives.
Volcano  [author] 30 Jul, 2021 @ 3:38pm
Seems like they do it less often with this mod (I tried to address that). The issue of course is that its based on a lot of variables, so its hard to "fix it" entirely, but it seems to be better in the mod, but you could have tried it and disagree, I suppose.
赤色蛋黄EGG 30 Jul, 2021 @ 9:47am
Is it possible to improve AI's offensive ability during siege?In vanilla,AI will always lay siege to my city with tens of thousands of men instead of attacking, even though the forces inside my city are far weaker than he is.
Iluvatar47 11 Jun, 2021 @ 8:41am
Easy way to tell if this is working?
Volcano  [author] 6 Jun, 2021 @ 5:56pm
No, you can apply it in the middle of a campaign.
Iluvatar47 6 Jun, 2021 @ 11:08am
do i need to start new game for this to apply?
Volcano  [author] 10 May, 2021 @ 6:22pm
