the groundwork for an incredible massively coop horde shooter is here. the feel, the sound, the setting. it's all there. the only thing that worries me is when a game is "multiplayer only." I play by myself a lot and sometimes I play up games that are super duper old... And seldom can you do that with a multiplayer only game that died out with no users. Like insurgency, it's probably one of my fave shooters, but slowly, the user base has been trickling down to almost nothing imo.

I really do hope this game has a good fan base for a good while.

Very cute premise and delivered very nicely. If you're yearning a bit of a different take on the old classic tony hawk games, this will be for you. For me though, it felt... clunky and slow, like I was trying to ride through mud or something. It was just a bit off to the point where I didn't have fun anymore.

I didn't like it, but not enough to not recommend it. It's a decent game especially for 5 beans.

It's really "nice." It's pretty, relaxing, with a great premise. And although I didn't play too long, I was honestly a little bit bored. I was able to complete two games in my time before I asked for a refund. And I really felt like "well, I feel like I've gotten enough of that." I see there's a lot more stuff to construct and learn and stuff, but It's just not quite for me. It's super nice to see the whole map transform with what you're doing, but... After you "reclaim the wasteland," you need to recycle your machinery. Cool, sure, but After it's all said and done, my map looks like garbage, both times.

That being said, I will 100% buy this when it's on sale. This is totally something to play when you need to relax, but still have your brain working.

This is incredibly strange.

On one hand; this game is straight up excellent. It's so dope. It looks good, plays good, just overall excellent.

On the other hand; the above comment only applies when I'm playing on my steam deck. I couldn't even get it to run on my PC. There's no way to change resolution, no basic options, nothing... I don't get it. I couldn't even get my controller to work. And It looks like updates are non-existent, so my gripes are pretty much set in stone.

So, I guess this is a steam deck exclusive for me?

I seldom leave reviews because I'm pretty lazy. But fellas, this is... This is horrendous. I'm not upset about spending 10 bucks to upgrade my original game, but honestly, don't even waste your time going through the buying process. That's even worse.

To break it down real quick;

Cons; I need a new save file
this has awful performance (my rig is pretty good with an i9 and a 3080)

Why would anyone buy this? Go get the original and enjoy a good game.

Wait, as I wrote this review I decided to refund this... DLC (at best). I MIGHT grab it back up when they sort this crap out.

I don't understand why or how... But this is the slowest paced game I've ever played in my entire life. And at the same time, probably the most serene. It's just great. You have to take to this game like how Bob Ross took to painting. Nice n' easy, enjoy yourself, and if something bad happens, it's never permanent, you can always fix it. And the excitement is always in the journey and not the destination. The only thing that has ever bugged me is it's SO slow paced that travelling from map to map in the same region for a mission is sometimes actually exhausting.

Oh and I realized it has multiplayer like 90 hours into the game, and I still have yet to play with anyone. Makes me a little sad ngl.

But the most accurate review I've seen for this has got to be "it's like dark souls for car sims." And that's exactly what this is.

It's a friggin' souls game. If you're into them, you already know whats good. Strangely enough, I actually had a hard time getting into it. Since I've played the souls games since Demon's, I learned that the games have so much hidden.... EVERYTHING that it's easy to miss stuff. And since this is open world now, it's even EASIER to miss stuff. Because I'm one of those dummy's that needs to collect all the things, it made it really intimidating when I first started playing. Eventually I got over it and just enjoyed the game, because it's just excellent. Heck, even the story isn't as convoluted as the other souls games. Don't get it twisted though, you'll still be confused.

I was skeptical about this game. Frankly, I'm skeptical about a lot of games nowadays. But I'm glad I jumped in and bought this one. It's just overall excellent. I felt as strong about this game when I started playing, as Bioshock made me feel all those years ago. And, well, it's actually... basically communist bioshock lol. But It's great.

Also probably has the most incredible damage modeling in a game I've ever seen. I'm STILL stopping from to time looking at the carnage I've wreaked 10 hours into the game. I hope it gets the praise it deserves.

I hope this game makes it big. It's just excellent.

It is such an incredible fusion of mech games like armored core and battletech, turn based strategy games like x-com, and an incredible re-imagining of "time-line turn based tactics." What bugged me about games like frozen synapse and breach & clear was the fact that you basically had to prepare for every single surprise that could possibly happen. This ended up making the games very slow and tedious. Not necessarily bad, but it just wasn't for me.

The prediction system here is spectacular, basically you can see 5 seconds into the future (even what the enemy is doing) and plan accordingly. I understand that some people might feel like that's cheating somehow, but this being a singleplayer only game, it makes it much more fun. It allows you to literally choreograph a beautiful dance of mech destruction. It's splendid. I love it. I wanna coin the genre of "cinematic turn based tactics." Because every 5 seconds in this game feels like a movie. Hell, even the in-game timeline makes it feel like I'm messing around with adobe premiere lol.

I have literally ONE gripe. JUST ONE. So much can happen in those 5 seconds, that I spend a ton of time in replay mode watching everything that has happened. And it's awesome. What I would LOVE to see is a type of cinematic camera that would focus on big events like crits or a kill during a replay. As well as an ability to watch the entire fight after the game ends. I mean, I haven't played all that long, but if you stitch all the 5 second events together, I can't imagine a fight lasting more than a few minutes, which I would love to watch in real-time.

I'm 99% skeptical of mods, but for this; I'm at a loss for words, gamers. This is incredible. And it's FREE?!

I've played a little longer from the time I reviewed it and I got to say, the memes and references they threw in this are incredible. And tastefully done.

My favorite probably being the IT crowd gun scene... "WOW!.... A gun!"

This is a gift for the half-life universe. This is a gift to mankind.
