Unless I'm mistaken, only objects marked as Figurines flip themselves when picked up. If your object is a custom object, you could right-click it, go to Custom, and choose Generic. That should prevent it from righting itself on pickup.

Is there a way to move a face down hidden object without it flipping over and revealing its self?
