Dwarven Cuisine - Bacon

You've had Finely-Minced Pig Meat... You've had a Pig Meat Roast. But have you ever had... Bacon? This is the question our Chef Under The Mountain is here to ask you today. And if the answer is no, we have the solution. We have the capability. To make Pig Meat better, tastier, even more desirable... We can show you how to cook Bacon.

This mod adds a new food ingredient and item, called Raw Bacon (And Crispy Bacon!) with custom graphics to the game. You'll first need to acquire some Pig Meat or Boar Meat, and then Cut the meat into Raw Bacon at the kitchen. You'll find the task under a new category called Meatcraft. Here you will also be able to cook any Raw Bacon into Crispy Bacon, which is infinitely better. Both Raw Bacon and Crispy Bacon can be used as ingredients for meals, but only Crispy Bacon can be eaten on its own.


KNOW ISSUES

Barrel Bug - Barrels holding Bacon are labelled as 'Cheese Barrel', despite holding Bacon. This is caused by how the mod produces custom graphics. I currently do not have the ability to change this while still using custom graphics.

Stockpile Bug - Bacon holding barrels don't always go where they are supposed to. I have done all I can to make them, but sometimes dwarves will stuff them wherever. This doesn't seem to impede function in any way, they are still able to find and retrieve items as needed, but it can be frustrating for making dedicated stockpiles.

Bacon Monster Feature - As an... Unintended consequence of the way this mod is constructed, there is a SMALL possibility that randomly generated creatures/objects whose material is randomly selected (Such as Forgotten Beasts) will actually be made out of... Bacon (Both Raw and Crispy variety). I have only seen this twice in multiple world generations (On my Butter mod specifically), but I find it amusing and have no intention of fixing it, given the rarity of it occurring. This is now considered a feature of the mod.

Q:How do I make the bacon?
A:You'll find a button in the kitchen called 'Meatcraft'. Under that, you'll find the ability to cut bacon from Pig Meat or Boar Meat, to produce Raw Bacon. You'll also find the button to cook bacon which turns Raw Bacon into Crispy Bacon!

Q:How do I eat the bacon?
A: Your Dwarves will automatically use either Raw Bacon or Crispy Bacon as an ingredient when making meals, and they can also eat Crispy Bacon as a food item itself.

Q:Why can't my dwarves eat Raw Bacon?
A:That's icky, and dangerous. You shouldn't eat raw meat, you'll get sick and turn into an elf.


Save Game Compatibility

Not looking good, and I highly DON'T recommend using this on existing worlds. It likely won't break anything, but it won't work either. Dwarf Fortress mods are, generally, best used on new world generations, not on existing playthroughs.


Load Order
~~~~~~~~~
After your vanilla stuff, but otherwise it shouldn't matter too much. Anything that edits Entities should be loaded BEFORE this mod.


Mod Compatibility

Plays well with others. Doesn't like mods that CUT Entities, but can be used with them if loaded afterwards.
