Dwarven Cuisine - More Bread

Description
You want… More? You want… More Bread?! Well, our Chef Under the Mountain is happy to oblige! We are happy to introduce a new recipe… Cavern Bread! This bread can be made entirely with ingredients found, farmed, or gathered beneath the earth. But that’s not all… We’re also throwing in two additional recipes! Hearth Bread, made from tallow, has a nice fluffy texture that is sure to please. Also, our dwarven spies diplomats have managed to acquire the human recipe for bread using olive oil and longland flour, which we have dubbed Manling Bread.

This mod adds 3 types of bread (and corresponding dough) each with custom graphics to the game. You'll find a new category in the kitchen called Breadcraft. Under this category you will see tasks to make dough for each kind of bread, and the ability to bake that dough. Unlike the Dwarven Cuisine – Bread Mod This mod does NOT require my butter mod, replacing it with oil and tallow.

SPECIAL NOTE: This mod works perfectly on its own but was designed to be integrated with my other Dwarven Cuisine mods, including Dwarven Cuisine – Bread and Dwarven - Cuisine Simple Bread. Mix and match to your heart’s content or use standalone as you desire.

SHOUT-OUT: This mod was requested by Duckling.

Recipes
~~~~~~
Make Dough
To make Dough, assemble the following ingredients in your Kitchen, and mix together. Both Cavern Bread and Hearth bread start with a Cave Wheat Flour base, with Manling bread utilising Longland Flour. All three recipes require Dwarven Sugar derived from milled Sweet Pods. Sugar and Flour used in this way should be kept in bags and not in barrels, for maximum freshness. Cavern Bread requires 1 jug of Rock Nut Oil, while Hearth Bread needs 1 glob of tallow. Manling bread requires Olive Oil for that unique surface flavour. For the egg, any type will do, as will any kind of Alcohol. However our Chefs recommend Beer, for the true Dwarven taste.
Cavern Bread Dough
-1 bag of Cave Wheat Flour
-1 bag of Dwarven Sugar
-1 jug of Rock Nut Oil
-1 Egg (Any egg will work)
-1 pint of Alcohol (Beer Recommended, any Alcohol will work)
Hearth Bread Dough
- 1 bag of Cave Wheat Flour
- 1 bag of Dwarven Sugar
- 1 glob of Tallow (Any will work)
- 1 Egg (Any will work)
- 1 pint of Alcohol (Beer Recommended, any Alcohol will work)
Manling Bread Dough
- 1 bag of Longland Flour
- 1 bag of Dwarven Sugar
- 1 jug of Olive Oil
- 1 Egg (Any will work)
- 1 pint of Alcohol (Beer Recommended, any Alcohol will work)
Baking Bread
-Simply Bake the Bread from the corresponding Dough at your kitchen. Recommended oven heat of 325 degrees, for 30 minutes. Each unit of Dough will produce 4 loaves of Bread.
KNOW ISSUES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Barrel Bug - Barrels holding Bread and/or Dough are labelled as 'Cheese Barrel', despite holding Bread or Dough. This is caused by how the mod produces custom graphics. I currently do not have the ability to change this while still using custom graphics.

Stockpile Bug – Bread/Dough holding barrels don't always go where they are supposed to. I have done all I can to make them, but sometimes dwarves will stuff them wherever. This doesn't seem to impede function in any way, they are still able to find and retrieve items as needed, but it can be frustrating for making dedicated stockpiles. As a secondary issue, the game has problems finding items that are in a container that is stored inside another container. This is relevant to this mod, as it will be unable to find Flour that is stored in a barrel. Any Flour stockpile should be set to 0 Barrels in order to prevent this issue. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to fix this, as it is a problem with the base game.

Bread Monster Feature - As an... Unintended consequence of the way this mod is constructed, there is a SMALL possibility that randomly generated creatures/objects whose material is randomly selected (Such as Forgotten Beasts) will actually be made out of... Bread. Or Dough, actually... I have only seen this twice in multiple world generations (With my Butter Mod specifically), but I find it amusing and have no intention of fixing it, given the rarity of it occurring. This is now considered a feature of the mod.

FAQ
~~~~
Q: I have the right kind of Flour but the button to make the dough is still red! What is going on?
A: The game has problems finding items that are in a container that is stored inside another container. Flour is actually a Powder item stored inside a Bag container, which can then be stored again inside a Barrel container. Any Flour or Sugar stockpile intended to be used for bread making should be set to 0 Barrels in order to prevent this issue. You can solve this problem in an active fortress by having your dwarves move the flour or sugar out of the barrels by setting up a new stockpile with 0 Barrels, and making it the only stockpile that will accept Flour and Sugar. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do to fix this, as it is an issue with the base game.
Q: Why not just make this part of the Dwarven Cuisine – Bread mod?
A: When I am modding my games I like options, and the ability to customize my modded experience. So, I want to give other people the same option with my mods by making them as modular as possible. More Bread offers an alternative to the main Bread mod (utilizing only base game ingredients) while still working perfectly alongside it, allowing the user to decide just how much bread they want. The correct answer is, clearly, all the bread.
Q: Why do I need a specific kind of Oil? Why can’t I use any Oil? I can use any Tallow for Hearth bread.
A: I would have liked to make the mod open to all types of Oil, but the game’s code has certain limitations. The way it handles Tallow and Oil are different. In order to keep this mod at maximum compatibility with other creator’s mods I have to specify the Oil, while I am not limited in this manner when it comes to Tallow.
Save Game Compatibility
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not looking good, and I highly DON'T recommend using this on existing worlds. It likely won't break anything, but it won't work either. Dwarf Fortress mods are, generally, best used on new world generations, not on existing playthroughs.

Load Order
~~~~~~~~~
After your vanilla stuff, but otherwise it shouldn't matter too much. Anything that edits Entities should be loaded BEFORE this mod.
Mod Compatibility
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Plays well with others. Was made to work with my all other Dwarven Cuisine mods, without issues. Doesn't like mods that CUT Entities, but can be used with them if loaded afterwards.

I love your cuisine mods. It's so refreshing seeing new interactions and items added making use of stuff that's already in there. I love that I finally have a reason to figure out sustainable egg farming and there's a unique use for flour and sugar. My current challenge is making a dwarven bakery with an attached cafe! <3

Hey! I was away from DF for a while, thank you so much for the mod and the shout out! :)
All the best!

Because some people cannot handle the ferocity of a bread beast (aka breast), and so have to be warned before they see one.

Yesterday I had a Forgotten Beast made from bread. This is the spirit behind Dwarf Fortress. I love it. :clapclap:

I don't understand why this is listed in the issues section. :WH3_greasus_rofl:

Discworld dwarf bread when?
Digganob 5 May, 2024 @ 10:56am
I see. I will consider it. But that's a long way off, I'm still baking something special for the Adventure Mode update.

@Digganob You do need to add the custom reaction to the entity file for each race. Same thing with any modded (Cave Goblins?) races. I gave humans Barley, Rye and Manling Bread, and the Goblins got Kinthal (Whip Vine) bread. Elves are too picky to be able to make bread, in vanilla. :p I can't confirm if they actually make it as NPCs, but there's nothing stopping them from being able to. Any modded races will need access to Kitchens.

The flour thing is slightly frustrating, since the game has so many types of flour. When I started the bread mod I wanted it to be open to all types, but in order to do that you need to overwrite the plant themselves, making the mod really incompatible. So, the alternative is my way of doing it one flour type at a time. I have considered making an Even More Bread mod that covers the rest of the Flour and Oil types, but you are welcome to join the Bakery! ;)

Awesome. You can never have enough bread. I'm thinking of editing these files myself, to add some humanish above-ground grain based breads, like with old-fashioned non-cave wheat, of both the soft and hard varieties. Are these recipes used by everyone with access to kitchens, or are they reactions that have to be added to the entity file?
