Terrain adjustment.
Adjusted path finding as seen on map screenshots.
Adjusted some objects.
Objectives are quicker to take, the old capture rate of 0.1 has been increased to 0.3.

The second battle of the deep bottom is nearing its completion. What remains to be reworked is the terrain near the James river for additional battle scenarios. Confederate terrain will also be reworked for additional battle scenarios. This update will be released early September or mid September.

8/23/2023 Announcement.

Attention soldiers! I would like to inform you about what's going on with the development of the second battle of deep bottom. I was in the process of revamping the union terrain which caused some unforeseen navigation mesh issues on the main battlefield. I figured I just needed to tweak some objects to the battlefield and smooth some slopes and it would work. But here's the thing, it got worse. I know this is disappointing to some, but I'm not ready to throw down the gloves yet.

I have four different files of deep bottom, I will be starting again from the file last uploaded to the steam workshop on august 1st. This will sadly affect the release of this update until late september. Tomorrow I will be celebrating my 23rd birthday and I will likely get back to developing the map on the 26th of august. If for some reason something goes wrong, I will not hold anything back from those who'd like to play the update. It will be uploaded separately, and it will be accessible with a link in the description upon release. I know many of you are still passionate about deep bottom, and I'm eager to return my gratitude.

At ease soldiers, it is always a great honor to have you on the field of battle.

9/10/23 Announcement
Despite starting fresh. More and more issues are appearing on the battlefield due to the use of pathfinding boxes which are needed to create additional battle scenarios. The upcoming update will be canceled. The nave-mesh and cover point system is just too sophisticated for me, as I can’t achieve the results that I'd like from the bots. Adjusting everything over the course of a month has become tiresome. Sadly I'm ready to throw down the gloves. However im happy to start planning for Perryville and the rework of corinth.

This patch tweaks union and confederate generated cover points which should balance out normal difficulty setting better with loadout one. Some sharp terrain was smoothed and several bushes heights have been adjusted. Fixed mg gatling position.

-updated the map through the standard version of ravenfield, Verizon none in versions tab.
-Updated pathfinding.
-Terrain adjustments.
-Lighting adjustments.
-Two entrenchment changes.
-Most Entrenchments give cover from both sides now.
-Adjusted positions of flags.
-Adjusted spawn point locations to fill the field.
Bots will utilize trees for cover unless always follow plan is enabled through the players battle map -planning.
-Adjusted dirt road position.
-Added rocks to the field which bots will utilize.
-Adjusted foliage
-Adjusted tree positions
-updated mg Gatling gun positions
-updated grass texture
-updates dirt texture
-Updated atmosphere
-unions troops have sightly more cover arrows to balance things out with hard difficulty and endless instant action difficulty settings.
-Aircrafts have been removed for now.
-Added a few more triple tree assets to stifle bullets in some areas.

Known issues
-Textures might look different in previous versions.
-Some trails might have foliage on them. This will be patched out.
-Some cover points need to be re-balanced next patch
-Forgot to smooth some areas of terrain, this will be fixed net patch.

development will stop here, since the demand isn't really there. take care and enjoy the rest of the year. I will of course attempt to mend any issues if any are brought to my attention.

Questions and answers
Q: why were tanks and planes added into a civil war map?
A: To me, ravenfield has always been a battle simulator. Before i started making these maps, I was playing maps which just looked like a civil war battlefield but wasn't. I want everything available to everyone to accommodate they're game play preference.

Q:Why the second battle of deep bottom?
A:The first battle was mostly a cavalry charge from what I've read.

Q: Why wasn't the map made in version 26?
A: Mainly the nave-mesh system is what makes creating these maps on Version 26 more difficulty. For instance, all those trees behind regimental spawns would need to be removed because infantry would take cover behind them. Not a bad idea per se as it makes them more tactical, but balancing this out is a huge challenge while maintaining creative control. The map can however be played across all versions now.
