Journal of Conrad Azohi - Day of embarking

Today marks the beginning of my journey away from my imperial homeland, across the trader's ocean, and towards less explored areas of the world. It is my goal, during these travels, to find items and processes which would be of alchemical interest and record as much detail about them as I can. Some of my colleagues at the imperial college have expressed doubts that I will find much of value. Though, it isn't the inherent value of what I might find which spurs me into this path. Truth be told, I seek to discover what I can solely for the joy of discovery.

The route we will travel is not set out in full, as of yet. First, my companions and I plan to move through the coastal nations on the far side of the ocean, to see what we can find there. I suspect we will need to delve into regions farther away from what many might call the 'more civilized' lands. I do not believe we will find anything worthy of notice in places where alchemists have already walked. Though, we will spend a few months in these regions, at least, to be certain.

One issue I am anticipating is the lack of alchemical resources which I would have enjoyed in my homeland. All my endeavors will be constrained, whether through lack of alchemy engines, lack of reagents, or lack of more sophisticated experimentation apparatus. Though, if there is any skill I can boast over other alchemical engineers, it is the ability to accurately predict molecular structures and alchemical processes based on very rudimentary experimentation. I hope that this skill will allow any difficulty I face to be mitigated.

Regardless, I look forward to returning home with a journal full of the wonders I have found while abroad.
