Zee's Distance Is A Good Thing (5)

Description
Requires a new game, it will not have any effect on running saves that were started without the mod.

This mod increases the minimum distance between cities from (3) to (5), but also brings all the balance changes that need to be present when doing that since so many of the games buildings, units, wonders and systems derive their worth based on tile distances.

If you like playing on large maps but don't like the city spam, the long turns, or the CPU overhead that comes with it, this mod may be for you.

This mod will also have a notable impact on reducing CO2 emissions. Pairs very well with my Normalized Climate Change mod.

Note that there is also a six(6) tile version of this mod, available here.
The version you're currently reading is the version preferred by the author, but I go back and forth.

Overview
===================================================
  • Minimum City Distance increased from (3) to (5). City tile overlap is now minimal. Make the best of it!
  • Citizen Loyalty radiation distance increased from (9) tiles to (12) tiles.
  • Religion radiation distance increased from (9) tiles to (12) tiles.
  • Entertainment buildings range increased. Buildings that were (6) are now (9), buildings that were (9) are now (12).
  • Factory buildings range increased from (6) to (9).
  • Power Plant buildings range increased. Coal unchanged at (6), Oil from (6) to (9), Nuclear from (6) to (12).
  • Fighter Aircraft ranges increased. Biplane unchanged at (6), Fighter from (8) to (10), Jet from (10) to (12).
  • Bomber Aircraft ranges increased. Bomber from (10) to (14). Jet from (15) to (18).
  • Paradrop range increased from (7) to (10). When at airport, from (12) to (16).
  • Trade Route distance increased. Land from (15) to (25). Sea from (30) to (45).
  • Start distance for major civs increased from (12) to (14).
  • Tile growth by culture speed increased. More distance to cover.
  • City growth by food speed decreased. More room for farms.
  • Updated tooltips and descriptions in-game, no guessing what the mod is doing while you use it.

Configuration
===================================================
"Standard" map-size or Larger is recommended, and when creating your game some of the map settings should allow for more room on the map.

For example, you might pick 8 civs on a 10 civ map, reduce the number of City States, drop sea levels to increase land space, etc.

I was very happy with the following settings: Large(10) Pangea Map, 9 Civs(including me), 9 CS, Low Sea level.
This was used in the screenshots above, use it as a guideline for how you want to shape your game.

Compatibility
===================================================
Requires a new game, it will not have any effect on running saves that were started without the mod.
Works best with Gathering Storm, but can be used with Rise and Fall or Vanilla Only as well.
Should be compatible with anything that doesn't obviously conflict. Let me know if you have any problems.

Works like a charm.

For those who think like @Hoshi there's this mod called Workable 4th Ring:

It does what it says, and so far it seems to work perfectly with Zee's mod.

Yes the in game texts are updated, you can see all the updated descriptions in the InGameText.sql file for buildings/units/governors/etc.

2 quick examples so you can confirm - Oil and Nuclear will say a range of 6 by default in vanilla, check them in the tech tree or build queue and the tooltip for those should say 9 and 12 respectively with this mod enabled.

You've got a mod conflict and another mod is overwriting the descriptions

Are ingame texts not update or is the mod for some reason not working for me?
It says "loyalty pressure affects cities within 9 tiles" while in the mod description it's mentioned it should be 12. I haven't checked other instances of the changes yet.

Quick question, are there any plans to rescale the "Breads and Circuses" project?

Loving the mod, it really helps to reduce the micromanagement on bigger maps.

Hey it is a great mod, but I just wish there was a way to work tiles past 3 Hexagons, guess it is hard coded >_<

I'd love to try this but I'm far too worried about mod compatibility and it being outdated in general :(

Can you make a localized version?

Dude I could even gift the NFP expansion to you if that increases the chances that you update your mods. Your work is that awesome.
