MULTV08 Quetzalcoatlus Mechanised Dropship

Please note: of the 11 generators, only 2 come on by default. 3 more are turned on by the "WeaponsShields" Device Group Shortcut (along with the shield itself) - meaning that, when turning the shields on using your normal keybind, it won't have enough power to charge and the generators (and a lot more) might go bang. If you don't like this, please feel free to move the 3 generators found in the "[1]Power-Wpns&Shlds" device group into the "[1]Power-Main" device group. The same goes for the remaining 6 large generators in the "[1]Power-Propulsion" group that only come on with the "PropulsionEtc" switch.

Mod/Scenario - Vanilla, but possibly RE2 compatible.


The eighth in my series of Military Utility/Logistics/Transport Vehicles is the Quetzalcoatlus class Mechanised Dropship.
The Quetzalcoatlus has an internal payload bay designed specifically to carry the AFHV03 Lynx APC. The dimensions of the bay are ~11.5m (23 blocks) long, 6.5m (13 blocks) wide and 4.5m (8½ - 9 blocks) tall, although the usable space is more like 6m (11-12 blocks) wide and 4m (7½ - 8 blocks) tall. Along with the Lynx APC, the larger of the AFHVs that can fit inside are: AFHV02 Caracal (all variants); AFHV05 Fox Light Tank; AFHV06 Liger IFV; AFHV08 Coyote Tank Destroyer; AFHV15 Serval ATEHV. It is also possible to get the MULTV03 Wildebeest (the only other MULTV that fits) inside the bay, but it is difficult enough to be considered impractical.
The Quetzalcoatlus is possibly compatible with Reforged Eden 2 because it has plenty of empty/unused space into which RE2 devices can be installed. Please see the "Upgrade/Adaptability Space" section below for more details.






Cockpit Door - Automatic (motion sensor controlled).
Access Shutters - All manual except 1 lever controlled.

The Quetzalcoatlus has numerous upgrade options, from empty spaces that can be filled with container extensions, more fuel, or whatever, to additional hardpoints for turrets, fixed weapons and thruster jets.
With CPU turned off, an Advanced Core installed or Reforged Eden 2 CPU extenders installed, remove the 'x' marked dark-red blocks to add more turrets, fixed weapons and thruster jets - the descent T2 large thrusters can also be replaced with medium Thruster Jets. Please see the images above for locations. Empty/unused spaces can be accessed via the various shutter doors. As mentioned above, the vanilla Core can be found in the tail/stern, beneath the fins, accessed via either shutter on the sides.

As shown in the above screenshots, the colour palette includes 4 primary colours to choose from: Khaki Tan (vehicle comes in this colour); Camouflage Green; Light Blue-Grey; Dark Blue-Grey. To swap the colour, simply click on the "Replace Mode" check box on the Colour And Texture Tool's UI, then (ensuring that no texture is selected) click on the coloured square that you want to change to, then "fire" the Colour & Texture Tool at any part of the vehicle that is painted the colour you want to replace.


The Quetzalcoatlus is (obviously) based upon the UD-4 Cheyenne from Aliens.

- NOTE - any Mini Fridges on board come turned off by default to save power until food is inside needing to be kept cold, and can only be turned off manually (or by turning off all power to the vehicle) from the fridge's own UI to limit instances of food being accidentally spoiled.
