Originally, Hades Driveyards was founded by a small group of persons during the erlier days of the Jovian Union. The company specialized in developing cargo carriers and industrial barges and stations, however, this business was barely profitable for the company. During the space piracy crisis of 2198, many of HDY's haulers fell prey to raiders and scavengers all across the solar system. HDY noticed this issue, and produced their very first military vessel: The Spark. A jump-capable escort cutter that provided basic defense of their haulers and miners for a cheap price due to HDY's signature chemical propulsion system. The Spark soon became renowned across Sol for its sturdiness, surprisingly good performance and ease of maintenance. Not few people say the ship saved HDY from bankrupt.
The CEO of HDY immediately noticed that the Spark had given the engineers the experience they needed, and so the company began to produce warships on a larger scale. The ships became widely spread especially amongst the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, where small militias tried to protect their newly founded colonies from harm. HDY quickly rose to being the renowned weapons supplier it is today, especailly after the fuel-hungry chemical thrusters were replaced with fusion drives. These new engines had more power, while their propellant was not as dangerous to handle as most chemical fuels, and they boosted HDY to a major contractor for many militias and later the Jovian Defense Fleet and the Ori Republic.

///// Hades Driveyards - Design Philosophy \\\\\
Most HDY ships follow a common design shape of a single flat hull, with weapons mounted on the top and sides. Unlike other ships of their class, many small or large vessels still boast fixed forward weapons to lay fire on enemies at longer ranges.
Hades Driveyards warships follow the idea of a "brawler": Rather than soaking up tons of damage, the ships are designed to overpower the enemy in short enagements. Therefor, they feature relatively weak armor, and their thrusters, which depend on fuel and therefor a conveyor conection, have always been the achilles heel of HDY. This is compensated by a vast ammount of weapon systems; HDY preferrs Missile Turrets for anti-capital ship use, while Gatlings are used as AA weaponry.
In more recent years the company has been experimenting with different ways of designing warships. With the Reliant Light Cruiser the company aquired a template for future heavy warships, and shifted the design focus from a broadside missile turret strategy to a more offensive style, expanding on the ever-present fixed forward weapon systems to make them the main source of damage for most HDY vessels. Most fifth-generation ships follow a new naming scheme to mirror this change, the ships are now named after seagoing warships from the Japanese nation of Old Earth, such as Kaga, Kii or Atago.
Hades Driveyards has also been working to implement Carriers on a larger scale as a reaction to the Terran forces preferrence for massed Battleship centered doctrines. Realizing that HDY's highly lethal but vulnerable Cruisers can't match such massed firepower directly, the decision was made to adapt Carriers for ranged attack runs into the lineup. HDY's first real Carrier Kaga performed exceptionally well, and since then a lot of work has been done to capitalize on this advantage as fast as possible.

HDY, as big as it may seem, is just one of many similar companies, producing weapons and war machinery to help the cause of the Ori Republic, and to restore and secure peace and order across the entirety of human-ruled space. Allied companies of HDY are:
