Please remember to thank the people in that huge creators list on the right there, for the hours of their lives spent making this game so amazing. And let me know if this mod-list breaks to the point Starbound is unplayable or doesn't start. My actual mod list is slightly different and more stable for a few reasons..*

The Futara mod can help immensely if you're lagging badly. The page itself has instructions, but here're detailed steps if you're still having trouble:
  1. Subscribe to and find the mod file ( [steaminsteallationdirectory]/steamapps/workshop/content/211820/1958993491 default). Or you can just do a file search for '1958993491' as well to go straight to it.

  2. Right-click Starbound in Steam Library ->'Manage' ->"Browse Local Files" ->'mods' folder. Move 'contents' from the '1958993491" folder into this one
    (tip: renaming won't break it if file type is left unchanged)

  3. If you're is still laggy, consider disabling VSync in the config file( [localfiles]/storage/starbound.config default) with a script editor like Notepad++[notepad-plus-plus.org]. Simply search(crtl+F) for 'VSync' and replace 'true' with 'false'.

The Occulemonade quest and 0 pixels thing is on purpose. I did this to push myself to avoid /admin commands as soon as possible.

Even though I've included patches, some races lockers still don't have:
Frackin Tutorials: found in a bookcase in the Science Outpost, ground level, above Kevin's lab
Protectorate Gear: A vendor past Esther after 'Ship Repairs'; also, cat guy by said bookcase
Cooking Tutorials: Purchased from the Terramart.

if the cooking overhaul gives you trouble, make the four hand-craft camp cook stations, then:
Millstone->wheat/rice, Cookpot->mud, handcraft->Dough, Oven->Dough, Chopblock->Bread.
Carnivores can always handcraft->any primitive weapon; they count as hunting tools.

Please do note that Frackin' Stations Interface does not work with Biggy's Reputable Weaponry(the uber weapon penguin), so until something's done about this, you'll have to choose between his shop or this cosmetic mod. I personally choose this mod.

The last three mods are included purely for your convenience, so that "Subscribe to All" gives playable results. I actually use alternatives to all of them. As such, I can't vouch for this list's longevity, because Frackin Universe updates constantly and sometimes even sabatoges compatibility over petty reasons. If you're still reading, my differences are:

FUc(F.U.c)[github.com] because Frackin updates too much and Sayter's a bully.
FUc(F.U.c) Dependancy patch because I want it to work.
Elithian's GitHub alternative[github.com] for the extra race
GitHub Elithian compatibility, for obvious reasons.

If you've never used em, Gits are really simple. Just follow a link -> green "Code" button ->'download ZIP' ->extract into local 'mods' folder. The same place you'd put the Futara mod to take advantage of its amazing optimization features.
