Description
[This is an outdated version of my LWOTC modlist which developed technical flaws due to LWOTC updates. The original modlist has been reworked from the ground up to function once again.]



A condensed and revised version of "NevikTheStoryteller's Covert Infiltration Penultimate Modlist (800+ Mods)"

Split into two types of collection, Gameplay and Cosmetics, allowing you to mix and match or to choose your own mods for either given genre.

For those looking for a more coherent experience or who have had problems with the prior massive modlist, I hope you might enjoy these revised collections.

Acknowledgements:
-- Requires all XCOM 2 DLC, including War of the Chosen.
-- Use Alternate Mod Launcher for XCOM 2, as Firaxis is a little better at making games than mod managers. Using AML increases mod compatibility and game stability tenfold, and also communicates to you when there are conflicts or missing mods. There is one conflict in this modlist and a few missing dependencies, these are normal and work perfectly fine in the way this modlist has been set up.
-- More mods means more data to load, resulting in some longer load times (at least when starting the game), so allow the game some time to start up even if it looks like it is freezing. Add "-log" to your Active Arguments in Alternate Mod Launcher's Settings menu to see what's going on in the background while the game is launching, it will show a DOS box detailing everything it is doing leading up to the main menu.


The Experience:

-- This modlist is entirely plug-and-play, no specific settings or configurations are required for a seamless experience. This includes the Long War settings at the beginning of a campaign. I have included a Red Fog mod to negate the need to activate the Red Fog setting, though theoretically both may be activated at the same time for maximal wound penalties.

-- An overhauled Strategy Layer (Geoscape) that puts XCOM on the offensive. No longer fending off against invasion but rather overthrowing an established and organized enemy, XCOM must pounce upon opportunities to strike against Advent activity by sending agents into radio silence to infiltrate enemy lines and bypass their defenses.

-- A rare but terrifying Lost presence. The Lost are now comprised of an amalgam force of aggressive tech-zombies, rogue aliens, dark psionic cults, and abandoned science experiments. The Lost now represent the dark secrets that Advent is desperate to cover up, nightmarish alterations of life in pursuit of power that threaten to spill from Advent's hidden labs and wreck havoc upon the world.

-- A world of factions. This war involves more than just Advent and XCOM, and no attempt at world domination is without repercussion. Rogue outlier factions and civilian gangs are constantly fighting for survival and personal gain, with no reservations about who they fight to get what they want.

-- An overhauled selection of soldier equipment. Sacrifice mobility for armor or equipment slots, or sacrifice total health for mobility. Weapons and armor now come in multiple diverse equipment options with their own abilities and stats. All weapons and items are now individually built instead of universally upgraded, but higher tier equipment has benefits for the Strategy Layer as well as the Tactical Layer. A full arsenal of gadgets and trinkets add further personality and specialization to perfect your soldiers' roles.

-- An overhauled Tactical Layer. Armor can now negate all damage without a damage minimum, making armor penetration or high damage weaponry much more important for everyone. Aiming logic has been enhanced with more detailed distance, elevation, and angle bonuses and maluses. XCOM units now have a scamper maneuver, wherein all soldiers who have already spent their turn will gain a limited movement action upon the activation of a new enemy group (just like opponents do when spotting XCOM), allowing slight adjustments to otherwise exposed positioning. Every soldier is now capable of unarmed combat, capable of striking, stunning, or even knocking out opponents with the right combos. If Advent overwhelms you, you can order your units to surrender and be taken in alive, hopefully to be rescued later. Evac has been overhauled to require a landing beacon to be thrown from an individual soldier, limiting its range, and requiring a number of turns before the Skyranger can arrive.

-- Soldier classes are numerous and chosen by you upon soldier promotion from Rookie, allowing you to further customize your soldiers' progression. Psionics have been given their own common classes, with later psi lab experiments focusing on infusing subjects with powers through simulation rather than experience.

-- The aliens established on Earth now have a physical presence across the world, with which they must carefully choose where to apply their forces and establish their bases. This also means that regions may be liberated of Advent presence, discovering missions to take down specific outposts and eventually Advent Headquarters. The Resistance also has a presence, requiring recruitment of assets and assignment of jobs throughout hidden bases across the world which you control (and defend). All missions have been overhauled to focus on guerrilla style mission objectives, often evading eventual but infinite Advent reinforcements to complete an objective and evac successfully. This is a much more realistic and responsive take on combating an alien invasion, where the mind is required just as much as the metal.
